Thank so much for this video. Rally Armor should just include a note to watch this before installing. And yes, that screwdriver tool makes a big difference. Without it I found that jacking up car when attaching the rear flaps gave my short handle philipshead enough grip so thatI did not strip the heads.

I’m not very car savvy, but this gave me the confidence to do myself! Any tips for “leveling” the flaps themselves? You got them to look very level/straight.

You got this! Just be sure to not over tighten the screws. As for leveling, tighten the screws once the flaps are on just until they’re snug so that they don’t move, then look at the flaps eye level from the back. Once you’re happy with the placement, tighten the screws all the way down and you should be good 👍

Yeah, I agree! I thought about replacing all of the nuts/bolts too but I know that won’t be cheap 😂. I suppose a little paint on top won’t hurt!

What a great step-by-step tutorial. I just bought a 2024 Outback Limited XT, and it didn’t come with mud flaps. So I will be getting a set from a 2nd party, perhaps WeatherTech?

I don’t have any experience with WeatherTech mud flaps but they make some great floor mats. I just took a quick look at them and they look great. I wouldn’t hesitate to use them if they’re direct fit.

Mine came in looking gold. Did your’s seem the same? I haven’t taken them out of the sealed bag in case I have to send them back. They don’t come in gold so I’m wondering if the bag is affecting the color. Any thoughts?

I have a question, I just bought a 22 Outback Wilderness, they ceramic coated it at the dealership, you said you also got PPF, did you get the PPF on the black cladding? Yours looks so shiny! Mine sleeps outside, we have the GT500 and my GT in the garage, so I am thinking that I may need to get PPF on the wilderness. We will be taking it off road.

Congrats on the new Wilderness! Nope, PPF wasn’t an option for the plastic cladding since they’re meant to be replaced if damaged. Also, my guess is that PPF would have a hard time sticking onto the plastic.

@@ronfromportland That is what I was thinking, but I wanted to make sure! I did no think it would stick. I love the blue on yours, I saw one in my town this weekend, it is such a pretty blue. Mine is white, a guy ordered mine and when he went to pick it up, he got so unruly, they kicked him out of the dealership, and told him to never come back! 😯 So I was able to buy it! I still cannot decide on what cross bars I want. We are going to Big Bend in West Texas in a couple of weeks, taking her stock, once we drive in the mountains, in the dirt, etc., hopefully we will know what mods we need! We only have 1.5 days in Big Bend with the Subie, the rest of the vacation is driving the GT500 with a whole bunch of other race cars on the amazing smooth mountain roads in the middle of nowhere!😍You have a WRX, you should look up Octane Fest, put on by The Stable in Alpine, Texas! They have a FB group, we had a blast last year in our GT350, but we sold that car.

I feel like that’s how it goes with buying these models; buyers back out and people like me and you benefit from it! Same story with our car, it was supposed to go to a friend of mine but he got his Wilderness sooner since the person in the queue backed out. Just curious, why did you sell the GT350??

@@ronfromportland We had two of them, a 17 and a 19, we sold the 17 because it had oil consumption issues and we were going to share the 19, but we have always had each our own stang, we never shared, and it was not easy, it was "my" car, and hubby was always driving it, it was just weird. So we sold it, went without stangs for 7 months, then found the 22 GT bought it, then I found the 2020 GT500 in Dallas, priced way below market value, so I traded my Audi SQ5 in on the GT500, and the 22 GT was my daily. Long story, I did all kind of research on a new daily that was not too expensive and that had dual purpose, like going off road, and that is where the Outback comes in! My favorite mustang is the GT loaded with performance package and magneride, I had a 18 GT just like my 22, it is just what I like to drive and hubby loves the Shelby performance vehicles, so that is why the GT500. He misses the GT350 because he loves manuals.

High risk areas: full hood, bumper, front quarter panels, door edges, and door cups. Then that was all ceramic coated. Cheers!

hey... just installed these on my outback as well. How tight did you torque those screws in? mine are tight.. to the point where it causes dimples in the flaps. Not sure if its suppose to be like that or not.

That’s normal. Happened to mine as well. I backed the screws out just a little bit to reduce some of the dimples. Basically, I turned the screws on mine until it stopped turning then turned them just a little more.

Yup, they do. I prefer these over the sturdy ones though because they reduce the risk of getting caught on an object and ripping the bumper off.

On the website, it says “SUBARU OUTBACK WILDERNESS 2021+ RALLY MUD FLAPS”. Does this mean it fits all Outback wilderness 2021 and later (22/23)? Or do they only for the 2021?

Yes, it should fit all years of the Outback Wilderness. I’m seeing “2022+ Subaru Outback Wilderness” on Import Image Racing.

Instead of using the stickers, I just spray painted the brackets with matte black.

It’s close but not perfect. These were the closest ones I could find for around $6. Hard to tell the difference though.
