@Lien68874 жыл бұрын
To be fair, that sign indicates that it's a designated spectator area deemed safe by the organizers. There's of course still risk involved, but we can't expect every spectator to judge the risk better than the event organizers can. It's normally the spectators fault when things like this happen, but saying that these people asked for it and that they're idiots doesn't sit well with me under these circumstances. I also don't blame the driver or co-driver, and hope for their sake they don't blame themselves either.
@numbereighty73 жыл бұрын
People who believe anything they're told, when common sense says otherwise, are indeed asking for it.

Rally is mostly done on public road even if organizers tried to calculate every possibility of something going wrong, things can happen, an animal got on the road, a tire can fail or the driver can take the curve a few km/h too fast, that's sport, mistakes happen I don't blame the spectators nor the driver, but they are people with thinking brains, and they are in a way more easy position to decide for more safety than the drivers or the organizers.

There are honestly few spaces to be totally safe as cars can lose control even on easy sections of tracks (damaged vehicles pulling one way or the other/suspension failiure/puncture,etc..). But if you want to reduce the risk stay frosty where you stand. not sit. Keep looking for the next car. Usually there is time to jump out of the way. But you need to see it coming. Other than that, never on the outside of corners, and if possible stand above the level of the cars, but not a slope! Something more like a vertical mud bank or small cliff (between you and the track), at least 10foot high.

Racing is literally a completely non-essential experience and mostly just a great way to needlessly risk life and limb. And at this point in time, I think we can all safely say that automobiles (at least with internal combustion engines, the type racing folks like) are NOT the way of the future. People should really just come off their childish obsession with things that go vroom. I mean, yeah, this was a tragedy, but so 110% avoidable. @victinim25123 жыл бұрын
As an extract of something I said earlier, the only safe distance would be not being there. You say it's a straight and you would be right but it's a dirt road full of imperfections and holes with 1200kg machine going at 200+ km/h and considering the driver is not a machine too, it's still no one's fault. They could do better and the driver committed an error on the wheel. It's was just an accident at the end of the day.
