I disagree about staying friends. Either you loved the person for a reason (or reasons) or you didn't. Just because you can't get along well enough to be lifelong partners doesn't mean you can't still get along. It's like you're saying 'if you can't love someone, you have to hate them.' I still talk with my ex, and I try to give her good advice and help with our kids. Just because we couldn't be a perfect couple doesn't mean we can't still be very good friends.

I've been in a 2 year relationship, I am not well versed in being romantic. I always blame myself why we have to end it, with every weight come pouring at me, near to breaking down weeks before my Birthday. 2 weeks after my birthday she told me we should break up. I am mad, sad, and scared. it's almost 2 months since we broke up. I'm still in touch with her, but the guilt will never really disappear anytime soon. I can't bad mouth, I blame myself from time to time, but as this song's vibe give off to me it's a bittersweet ending. I wish her good health and to find more people that can make her feel loved (cause I failed to). as for me I guess I'll just keep looking up ahead, still I'll cheer on her like I used to.

Trying to live your life by yourself again after gaining new habits of doing things with the other person is hard, but eventually it becomes a rutine and you quickly forget how it felt to be with somebody.

Even though I know that real-life in Japan is probably also not as beautiful as this song and music video, but one thing for sure: Japan is such a beautiful country. Everything is clean, aesthetic, and even after I've visited Japan quite many times, somehow I'm still never bored, and Japan is still a fascinating, interesting country for me personally.

Me and my gf broke up our 2.5 years relationship a few days ago, we both said our goodbyes in tears. im really enjoying old taisho-era literature because its so hecking boring, theres something natural about it, things just happens, subtly and slowly, like life. it easier to forget you're reading a book when the book aint carefully manicured to fit into narrative models. im kind of a boring person, the grand western classics and their grand emotions stopped being relatable to me emotions are best conveyed just as they are in life, songs like this doesnt cheapen them by hyperbole

@Entraya Crosshill I would also recommend Something Strange Across the River (upon which the film The Strange Story of Oyuki was based) and During the Rains/Flowers in the Shade (two novellas usually in one volume). Still working through his repertoire. He’s probably my favourite author. :) I think his style and observations are quite modern for the time. Any authors you would recommend?

It took me until my fourth or fifth watch to actually understand the story being told by the video, and now I feel slow lol. The box that she is playing with at the beginning with her foot is full of his stuff that she still has. And she takes the box on the train to give it back to him. He gives her some keys, presumably his keys to her place. Then it shows her doing some things trying to have fun on her own, going through the motions at that carnival place but not looking like she’s really having that good of a time. Later, watching TV alone, first she’s laughing but she ends up crying. It’s a very heartbreaking story. But she looks like she’s doing pretty good while enjoying that watermelon at the end, so maybe everything will be alright. This song and video are awesome
