What I absolutely love about both of them is that they immediately went very public with their diagnosis in order to raise awareness about cancer. Chris had a film crew following her around throughout chemo when she was at her lowest. I think most of us would just want to retreat in our own little worlds.

I grew up 100+ miles north of Chris. Same five kids in family "enforcing" childhood religion. Hard to believe now, but Florida seemed very parochial at that time. We wer not only so proud of Chris but still feel a personal connection
