What a wonderful piece of music - beautifully played by Robert Pecksmith. I was a choirboy at Rhosymedre Parish Church during the 1950s/60s - my family home backed onto the church yard! I am just so emotional when I hear this music - thank you, Chris Jones

How beautiful, thank you so much for that comment! I don't have nearly the tie to Rhosymedre that you do; however, my beloved Da grew up in Cardiff, and this was something that he listened to a lot, so it is more than a bit poignant for me, as well. I love how people connect across oceans via KZbin comments, and also connect to music that crosses decades for them and links them to precious memories. 🎶🎼

This reminds me of St Mary’s Whitchurch on Thames. Our then organist would play it on a Sunday morning. Beautiful.

​@@Chesterbarnes1 Lovely piece of music, though I agree this is not quite the best rendition. I personally think the tune in the left hand could have been a bit more pronounced. My sole preference for a performance of this piece is Francis Jackson, on the organ of York Minster. Can't be beaten!

Thanks Stefano for posting this wonderfully played piece. Robert really does have it together. Compared to other KZbin posts, his playing feels like he wrote it himself! Absolutely "Lovely"

Dem Instrument ist noch die abebbende Mode der spuckenden Ansprache anzumerken. Seit der Wende hat sich nicht nur Eule enorm weiterentwickelt, im gesamten Orgelbau des DDR-Gebietes war ein Aufatmen zu spüren. Endlich standen angemessene Materialien zur Verfügung, die bis zur Wende "auf dem Schenkungswege importiert" wurden.

Wonderful piece of music for all occasions too! The hymn is beautiful as well. Thank you Stefano for posting this and give Robert an all the best and job well done for me. Once he gets that piece memorized it will come together even better than with the notes on the rack ! I love this instrument as well, a beautiful work of craftsmanship! Best!!

I wonder if it is because Wales is one of my ancestral homes that it is in my genes to love this piece so much. Of course, this is RVW's arrangement of the hymn, but it sounds like it is filled with great yearning. For what?

@glynnwright1699 my father grew up in Cardiff, and we would go back and visit from the US every 6 or 7 years growing up. On one visit, we visited Snowdonia, and I felt as though I had learned the meaning of words such as "enchanting" and "bewitching" for the first time. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
