Ralphy Dominguez was in Bradenton, FL picking up a load of cars to haul to Houston, TX for the "Cleetus & Cars" event held by Cleetus McFarland. Along the way Ralphy shares details on the truck, how he got into the auto hauling industry, what he does on his down time with family, and advice for others that want to get into hauling cars.
The truck he runs is a 2021 Peterbilt 389 / 3406 / 700hp / Eaton Fuller 18 speed / 270 wheelbase / 293 gears owned by Always Haulin Auto Transport of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

I been away for awhile. When the industry lost Bette I was bummed. I'm glad Chris came along later & been doing us a great service! Great interview!! I was thinking Florida driver, Florida truck. Cuz Florida reps hard w their trucks like Bat truck& Sierra. Then find out Wisconsin trk which is another state who reps hard. The combo made for a great story. Car hauling is a labor intensive job it is not for steering wheel holders... You are out there loading in the pouring down rain in the middle of a snowstorm you're unloading on icy decks you're unloading on wet decks.... It's a working man's job.

I started hauling cars at 21 I’m 23 now and it’s an awesome job, I was lucky enough to be brought up around car hauling. Ralphy is right lots of guys try it out and leave the next day it can take a long time to learn and you have to be very careful and diligent. Love the videos and what a beautiful truck.

@@ivanrios2425 its hard to find a company to start at,most want some experience hauling cars if not at least a few years driving experience, I work in Canada for Hansen’s but if you’re in the states I would maybe try united road or Virginia. My tips would be to just stick with it take your time loading and inspect the cars well before loading to save money on damages because as a car hauler owner op you have to pay for damages and that can add up fast

@@ivanrios2425 I started with a Towing Company that also did auto transporting. Went from a Little F450 Wrecker, International 4700 Wrecker, Freightliner FL70 Flatbed 4 car, 359 Peterbilt Commercial Wrecker to a 359 11 Car Hauler... I wasn't expecting the timeline that I did, but if I was looking to drive an Auto Transporter, I would have probably started with the same company, but tried to start somewhere in the middle, then go up! As for companies, I am out of the game for too long to know any, but a good place to find a couple are at nearby Dealer Auto Auctions, ask around them. On Auction Day, you'll see trucks all over... I wish you the best of luck on your search!

did it 10 years crosscountry se to sw twice a month, l miss it. But retired now. Central Dispatch l used back then. Was so bizzy before $5.25 gallon l was picking same color cars and all lil ones going to socal. 2000/2001 fuel was 84 cents.
