I tried this once on my old daily and it was a pain to get the led's to fit and after many headaches I gave up and stored them. This gave me a different perspective on the whole process so thank you, always good stuff on your channel.

Just finished doing this on my 95 ZJ Orvis, going to do this on my 2500 when I replace all the HVAC doors with the aluminum ones next month.

2 questions, how does the overhead come down? and I wish you had shown how u soldered in the incandesent bulb. ive always been sketchy with electrical stuff lol would hate to blow the whole circuit or something. I am visualizing the led in place and the incandesent soldered, im going to say, base to base.? and 3mm goes into the overhead and 5 mm in the insturment cluster and hvac control? BTW even without u showing that, is the most thorogh and understandable vid ive seen!

Awesome video! As an aviation electrical tech, I love the technical aspect and explanations. Came across this vid because I am getting ready to install an aftermarket double din touch screen head unit in my 3rd gen Ram and figure while I have it apart, I should fix the lighting. Few questions; (1) Have any of the LED's gone bad since you installed them? (2) Have you come across LED's that did not require modification or glue to fit properly? My concern is with all the crap Chinese quality issues, the bulbs will go bad and would be much more difficult to change out after having to glue them down. (3) Do you think the dimming issue would be resolved if you left the headlight switch panel bulb incandescent? Thanks again for an outstanding video!

The reason they shut off is because they are non-dimmable LED bulbs. You have to purchase dimmable LED bulbs in order to use the dimmer. Same goes for LED light bulbs for household use. If you’re going to use a dimmer you have to purchase dimmable LED bulbs
