Ram Dass on Dharma - Full Lecture 1973

Baba Ram Dass

Baba Ram Dass

9 жыл бұрын

A discussion around the concept of Dharma, or one's path in life. We may go to great lengths to avoid our path, but our inner voice continues to bring us back. When we eventually commit, everything begins to feel more appropriate. Ram Dass also explains the role of karma yoga, and what it means to 'die into service'. We learn to work with our desires, and move right into the fire. Through this work we free ourselves from attachment and find a deeper connection with God.
Recorded on June 23, 1973.

Bad comment. Enlightenment will always be relevant as long as life exists. The only way enlightenment may seem irrelevant is the time when free will no longer exists in humanity.
@dianeward5405
@dianeward5405 2 жыл бұрын
@@VVVVV99611 , that's rather condescending and judgmental of you to say "bad comment." You apparently don't live in L.A. where acquiring wealth, fame, and material goods are the main objective of many, by any means necessary. Your world may be encircled with enlightened individuals in search of the truth, unfortunately, all of L.A. is not in sync with your perspective. Individual differences. I did take offense at your comment. It was demeaning and somewhat pretentious for someone presenting to know & be "enlightened".

Does anybody else feel like this person is so angry and just like never quite gave up his like egoic ideas of greatness? So much so that he like judges society. And I just think that's unfair because I think all of this is much bigger and larger than will ever understand and so to place a negative value on Western society is like insulting the universe's magnificent program that's playing out. It just invoked like so much existential anger that I had inside of me and I was like Jesus Christ like I don't have a problem with society anymore like holy f*** why does this dude have such a problem
@6079Smith
@6079Smith Жыл бұрын
The talk is 1973, 48 years before his death, so 48 years less experienced/enlighteed. RD never claimed to be perfect, he was learning like we all are, he's being self deprecating about his own ignorance and judgement.. yet here you are, negatively judging a man for his perceived negative judgement! And saying he shouldn't have recorded this because you got angry about a man you perceived to be angry. You were given lessons here, and you missed them because you were focusing on your own emotional reactions to your thoughts. Maybe listen again - without judgement, with gratitude. 😊❤
