I love Ram Dass but it is so difficult to turn off my skepticism here. I'm going off faith that Ram Dass is as sincere a person as can be, and that Richard Alpert had a far higher IQ than myself and would have been difficult to bamboozle. We know that there are completely fraudulent channelers and mediums, and no channeler can demonstrate knowledge they had no other means to acquire but through their channeled entity. Perhaps this falls under Ram Dass's category of "we can know but we cannot know that we know."

Ram Dass himself said that he doesn't really care where it comes from and it's the message that counts. I have kind of a hard time with the channeling thing to. I came to just giggle about it and listen.

I would refer you to both Edgar Cayce and Chico Xavier, who were both subject to intense scrutiny in their lifetimes. Cayce was tested by Harvard Medical school where he was given the name and date of birth of several patients. He then, from a sleep state, gave symptoms, diagnosis and cure, with Latin terminology, and a 98%success rate. Chico Xavier a medium from Brazil, produced over 2000 letters by automatic writing, with closed eyes. These were later tested by a handwriting expert who found the handwriting in each letter matched that which the spirit coming through used in life. These two cases suggest Baba might have been onto something and not just delusional. Whilst many mediums are fake or just bad channels we should not through the baby out with the bathwater.

@@John12512 sort of, except he doesn’t tell you how to avoid hell in the afterlife. All that understand and believe in their hearts that Jesus shed his blood on the cross as payment for our sinful living and rose from the dead 3 days later, will be saved from condemnation. All that refuse his free gift of forgiveness will be damned by their own choice. Forgiveness and the gift of eternal life are free, all we must do is humble ourselves, admit that we are not perfect and ask God almighty for forgiveness through the shed blood of Jesus. @@John12512 same! And I tire of others, pushing their religion on me! As Jim Hendrix once said “ i’m the one who’s got to die when it’s time for me to die, so let me live my life the way I want to” Hell And all the thought that it conjures, are a perfect example of pure fear! the closest, these religious zealots will ever come to being in hell is the simple thought of it as it takes them from the moment of now to being afraid. On a positive note, they have unlimited lifetimes to work through this.
