Agree. Two wrongs don’t make a right. But the amount of chaos those few months of the Uddhav govt brought to Maharashtra was just incomprehensible. The monk’s deaths in Palghar, the irresponsible handling of the Sushant Singh and Disha Salian case, reports of extortion by police personnel in Mumbai, the looose handling of Arnab’s case, The chief cop of Mumbai Parambir Singh’s involvement in all this and all this only on the law and order side are a few instances why Uddhav and team are absolutely incompetent. This added to the massive losses for the Metro project, the handling of COVID in Mumbai and so many more. The list is very long. However I also believe that there are still loyalists of the Sena who regard Bala Saheb and have carried their allegiance forward to his son. That may be a reason why some votes may still swing to Uddhav’s faction of the Sena.

2019 was a Pulwama election. Only to the extent that it justified the faith people had in Modi. If Pulwama had not happened. Modi would still have won. It’s hilarious to hear such a conversation. Barring the opposition die hard fan bois, absolutely no one is voting against NDA. And there’s hardly any lower turnout, considering 2014 and then 2019 were an exceptional upsurge elections. This time’s turnout so far in first two phases was only 3-4% down but still above 2014 and much much above 2009. And the third phase has matched 2019 level. There is no lower turnout, especially among NDA voters. Ward wise data in UP indicates much lower turnout in muslim dominated wards compared to areas where NDA’s traditional voters live. Faaltu ki hawa banayi ja rahi hai Congress ke liye. 30 se bhi kam seats winnable hain Congress ke liye in the whole of India.

A lower turnout means people are okay with status quo and should be beneficial for the incumbent. Why don't these journalists show data (either for India or other democracies) where a lower turnout has meant a change in govt.? It's always the opposite, where people turnout in higher numbers if the sentiment is to change the govt.
