I never knew they made aluminum uni-strut..You can use Uni-Strut spring loaded clamps to mount them...And they will not vanish if they come loose...

XLNT. Easy to do, not too expensive and looks really good. I just wish you would have shown how you routed the wires into the shroud (i.e. what did you do with all that excess wire from the combiners?)
@johnwren3976 Жыл бұрын
The four roof mount adapters were required. After that, you can buy longer SS carriage bolts to use your choice aluminum rail. Aluminum channel and tube is available (including unistrut) in various sizes and shapes more cheaply at a local metal supplier at less expense than the $50 channel (plus shipping).

Yeah most of the cost buying online is in the shipping. Definitely more economical to buy it locally if possible.

can you help me find all the videos for the dodge ram promaster. the electrical and the plumbing
Thank you so much for this. It’s probably the best video I’ve seen and makes me feel more comfortable doing on my own. Two questions what should I budget approximately for this project and if you turned the panels the other way it almost looks like it would be similar in dimension. I ask because I have extended length promaster and I’m thinking of 600w. Thanks again so much!
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. I had about 300 or so in the project. Panels may fit the other way, but I just planned it all out as you see it. Just depends on what panels you get. Its def possible to get at least 400w up there. Might be possible to get 600. That would be great.

How is everything holding up after 2yr? Do you mind doing a 2 year review what you like and what you would have done or use differently. Thanks in advance!

Well I have sold this van and built another one so can't do a new review but when I sold it everything was great. I used the same basic setup on my new Transit van

1) 19:56 Is there any reason you use lock washers with a regular nut vs using a regular flat washer with a lock nut? 2) Since your washers, bolts and nuts are SS next to aluminum, are you concerned about the issue of corrosion due to dissimilar metals?
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
They don't have aluminum nuts and bolts. SS is what you use. A good idea is to use a rubber or plastic spacer between the 2 if you want to totally eliminate the chance of any aluminum corrosion caused by dissimilar metals.
@joeblow1942 Жыл бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone I forget the name of it but boat supply stores sell this stuff that you can use between dissimilar metals. I have used it on my marine stuff but not sure the dissimilar metal thing matters much when away from the caustic environment of the ocean. I was curious though.

@@JackofAllMasterofNone I am about to start another van build soon. Is there any reason you used lock washers with a regular nut vs using a regular flat washer with a lock nut?

@@joeblow1942I used a stainless washer with a lock nut on the rails. Not sure if that's what you are referring to.

Do you happen to remember the distance between the unistrut from side to side on the van? I’d like to try to get the biggest panels that will fit.

1 major thing wrong with that solor panel company, they don't have any status on their panels you have no clue what your buying.
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
They work great though. In my case they consistently put out over 300 Watts on a normal Ohio day. They are rated at 400 watts in ideal conditions.
@timrodatz1274 Жыл бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone I thought about them possibly 800 watts with AC and Max Air trying to figure how to get all that. I just couldn't find stats info on what site i was on.
