thanks for the video! very helpful! my 2 cents regarding the wiring: wires have a slack to lift the fan assembly enough to get to the clips from the other side. once you remove the top clips, you can lift fans higher and access the lower clips.

Funny you mention it. I have a video coming out this week on how to get the fans and radiator out as a unit, and WITHOUT having to disconnect any of those connectors on the fan shroud. When you see it done, you'll be an instant convert! So much easier and faster.

I do. Often, we leave it because P06dd is harmless, and there are lots of cases where we don't bother to replace the pump. But yeah, comes out through the lower pan with a couple of specialty 10mm swivels. @@zacharygamble9418

@@promastersonly1419 I’m just not a fan of ignoring a cel for a “harmless” repair, as customers often do with converter codes. If another DTC is set you’ll never know because there’s no second light to come on

@@promastersonly1419 I did try to trouble shoot it with the 'gas cap' fix circulating out there but I actually think the sensor on the oil pump did die because when they returned that part to us (upon our request) my dad investigated the old oil pump and he said he felt the part looked okay BUT since they changed the pump, the van can drive up a hill now (before it could NOT go over 30mph up an incline) and so since the new oil pump- I can go drive up hills now no problem. Having said that, I got an upside-down light bulb alarm light on the dashboard now, so I am searching your channel for exterior light replacements 😂😆

Some food for thought… I leave the fan harness connected to fan when removing it. Flip up fuse box and unplug 2 connectors and take off ground under left headlamp. Both very easy to get to, that way when you have it out you can release the clips from the backside and don’t break any

Usually lifetime warranty on fans. Some come with resisters and relays and don't. Be careful when ordering. Is the "tang" orange?

Is this a P0482 and or P0696 code? Fan 3 control circuit/high…. Apparently this is a recall on ProMasters. I have an appt on Thursday to have this fixed. I’m curious what they will be doing. Both fans are working, no noise or wiggle. Why does it say ‘fan 3’-where is fan 3? Any idea? I am scared @&^ to take to dealer as last time there 10K on a rebuilt tranny. They changed the oil and now I have P0198 code! There is no leaking that I see. How important to change that sensor? If I check the oil often and no leaks?

Imagine getting a conversion contract to convert over all of Amazon and the post office vans to EV. That would make for some good KZbin content. Do up a conversion for proof of concept. I can bring you up to speed on that entire industry real quick.

So we have had our van in being fixed at the dealership for a fan replacement for 2 weeks now. Just called us and said the fan is fixed but the fuse blew to the air conditioner now and it’s not working. They’re trying to trouble shoot. Kind of ticked off since they should know what they’re doing!!! What would cause fuses to blow after a fan/module replacement?

@@PetraTheVentureVan should go the other way - a new fan is LESS likely to blow fuses. Tells me something is shorting in the wiring to the fan. Luckily, all that wiring is simple and easy to get to. As you see in this video, 100% of the fan wiring comes out with the fan module if you chose to do it that way, rather than unplug it all with it still in the van. So if you wanted to, you could pull all the wiring out and test it easily for shorts. It’s also possible the short is in the fusebox itself, which isnt cheap but is easy to change.

got a question, 2021 RPM 3500 radiator fan wont shut off, need to pull the fuse, pulled out relays T06 & T07 and the fan keeps running, only way to shut it off is removing fuse F06, any suggestions?

YES! In the past, that "never shutting off fans" thing has turned out to be one of the two relays on the fan shroud itself. Your test would be to swap them with each other, and see if now the other fan never shuts off. Those relays are available individually, and they are identical to each other.

How much should it realistically cost to have a shop replace the fan module?

Alldata says 2.1 hours. Fans are as cheap as $150 on rockauto, but probably figure paying as much as $300 at a shop. So maybe $600 all in.

It only had two bolts the rest were claps Christmas tree anchors and torx’s

I’m refering to the torx bolts that hold the grill in. 6 hold the outer grill, 12 hold the inner. Overkill. Dont panic if a few get stripped or get left out.

My fan blows loud like a jet when idle but my temps are fine. Just started doing this around 150k...im at 190k now.

When the fan gets loose on it's shaft, or the shaft is wearing it's bearings, the fan wobbles as it spins and that's what makes it loud. Reach in and wiggle each blade - if one is excessive it likely means time for a new fan module.

My fan never turns off. This cool weather at highway speeds the fan never shuts off. Even going around town, never shuts off once it turns off. Engine has plenty of coolant and is not overheating

I havent experienced that, but a friend did and it turned out to be the relay mounted to the fan wasnt seated all the way. Worth a try.

You had replaced the torque convertor not to long ago. But maybe the trans light came on because it was hot. I was trying to keep up with Porsche for a couple of hours...

That engine compartment is the definition of 50 lbs of chit in a 10 lb bag. Fiat all the way. Get the front end setup on some pins. Pull some clips and take the whole front end off. Strip off all the emissions and make the van run on an aftermarket efi. Or put a carb on it. Put some pressure on these tranny companies to get them to make a standalone controller to run the auto. Evan push button shift and run it manually if need be at first. EV conversion is 100% possible. Automatic or manual; potentially even direct drive. Front or rear wheel drive. Easier than you think. How much range per charge do you want or need?

For decades I made fix it again tony jokes like everyone. But after these and a Fiat 500 I owned, turns out it was bullshit. Fiat makes good stuff. The promaster has it’s quirks, but generally it’s easy to work on.
