Thank you for reenforcing the need for us to take action. It is love in that action. Respect and kindness goes a long way as you’ve shown us. Maybe a brush in the tub or shower like we use on our backs would be gentle enough and help him exfoliate the extra skin, too. My father had given up on his self until I bullied him (with love) to take off his shoes and socks. I told him I’d be happy to help him with his feet, but being diabetic I was a bit reluctant. Thank goodness he had an appointment at the VA that week! He finally showed his doc his tented nails raised up off the nail bed. The doc got him into the foot clinic at the hospital the same day. He now goes regularly to get them checked on. He now walks with a lightness in his step I’d never seen before!

Caring, compassionate and so practical. As a care giver in an age care facility I am not permitted to trim residents nails but can flag the need for the podiatrist to see them when he visits the facility every month. I do however take a few moments to moisturiser and massage their feet and legs after their shower. I have seen the difference in the condition of their skin and I look upon this not only as a responsibility but also a privilege to serve our elders. Charlie Bear beautiful words Charlie. I cared for both my parents, sadly my mum died 3 years ago but after she passed I continued to care for my dad. He lost his best friend of 62 years & I felt it was my responsibility to keep him busy & as happy as he could be & during those 3 years I became closer to him than I have ever been. He is still alive but was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Dementia mid 2019 & it progressed incredibly fast to the point that he could no longer walk & I was not strong enough to move him anymore as he could not help at all. Sadly we had to put him in a Nursing Home & it’s taken a good 5-6 months for him to settle in. Care Givers in Aged Care are amazing! Such an important job. I thank you from the families of the elderly you care for & for taking the little extra time to rub the moisturiser into their feet, I know my father would really love & appreciate you taking the time to do that. Thank you Charlie Bear from another Aussie 🇦🇺 & hi to Judy 😊There’s Aussies. Everywhere!

After watching many of these videos, I kept asking my mother if she needed help with her nails. She kept telling me no, they were fine. One day when I was visiting her, I finally convinced her to let me have a look and while her nails were no where near the condition of this man, they were pretty bad. She let me cut them and I have cut them a couple of times since. Anyone with an elderly parent should pay attention to that parent's nails.

It breaks my heart when we find out that they don’t have someone that looks at their feet when they age. He said he has no discomfort because he can’t feel them. Also, the doctor exercised great patience with this kind gentleman, with him not being able to hear fully! Good job!

I’m thankful he was helpful to him.... I take care of my moms feet... only takes me about 30 minutes to trim her toe nails and oil her cuticles every two or three weeks... love your elders 💞

The compassion you have for your patients is very evident. I've really enjoyed watching you care for them. I'm a home health nurse, but I think I would love to be a part of your team!

This poor elder. I hope his accompanying relative follows your instructions. After you rubbed on the shea butter, I could tell an immediate improvement in his skin tone.

If I lived in your neighborhood I would volunteer to come and bathe this sweet man's feet before he had his nails clipped by you. His feet need some TLC big time. I was so happy to see that you worked on his cuticles. I don't need to tell you how much dead skin was packed in there.

I took care of my father for years. I lived far away. At every visit he had no choice: feet in a bowl full of water and soap and then trimming. This poor man.

I watch this channel and weep for these people and how circumstances brought them to this saint of a doctor. It absolutely breaks my heart. I would love to do this for the indigent people, but am wheelchair bound with MS. Maybe the next life, these people will be kings and queens.

I admire you. You are an inspiration. Our seniors are often overlooked. I believe every PCP, as well as every nurse, should examine a patient's feet and overall skin integrity. I admire your professionalism, your bedside manner, calm demeanor, and the teaching you provide to both the patient and family/caretaker. You are never judgemental and build on the strengths of the patient and caregiver. Stay blessed Dr.🌺🌺🌺

This poor man could use a long handled bristle brush so he could scrub his feet while bathing. That would really help with the dry skin. 😥 PS: great job Doc. 100% 👍🏽👍🏽

I am so glad you took such great care of this man. And the messege you left at the end was much needed. I live with my grandparents and I take care of their feet for them as yes, they are independent, but they do have some trouble maintaining their feet. So i take on the job and I don't mind doing it at all. Foot soaks, nail trims, skin 'peels' and lotion. The works! We must take care of our elders. They took care of us and we must return the favor. Thank you for your care Doctor. Lets pass on this important messege!

It wasn't until I started having problems that I could appreciate podiatry. Thank you for being so kind.

I must say Dr Jefferson you are the absolute best. I watch many different podiatrist cutting nails and removing calluses from the feet. So far you are the most caring and thorough doctor I’ve seen. Oh how I wish you were near my hometown in Philadelphia. I’m diabetic and requires foot care from a podiatrist and wish it was you helping me take care of my feet. I love your videos so please keep them coming😊
