I'm of the school of thought that the engineers made the better if not the best compromise when it comes to airflow, air intake temperature, and noise levels when it comes to stock air intake. I would even argue that a fair amount of stock air intakes are "cold air intakes". But I absolutely applaud that the owner of this TRX is going to record the data regarding the intake air temperatures with this intake. Either way, it sounds like he knew exactly what he getting with that intake about wanting to hear more of the supercharger whine and got a quality kit. I fully support mods like this when folks know what they're getting into good and bad! Still was a great video to pass the time! Keep up the great work! (Edit: Spelling is hard sometimes lol)

Yep, those HAI (Hot air Intakes) Thats why I bought a drop in K&N for my stock box for $70. All the kits were a pipe, maybe a "heat shield" in theory, and cone filter for $300-$500+

@@RevolutionMuscle Yep, you can remove it, but it would not being doing it's designed purpose. To cancel out the sound waves that would reverberate in the intake. Think of it as removing intake DRONE and the expansion area to deal with the closing of your intake valves. Just put mine on my trx. Absolutely awesome. And it sounds great also the hood had some baby holes feeding the charger. Now she can breathe. More air more fuel more more. Intake Temps are better. Cools air faster. Will worth the coin.

That is the question, it is at least making more noise with the air flow and that I think is a lot of what my buddy was after, he has a 1000hp Trackhawk that makes some amazing noise and wanted the TRX to follow suit. Thanks for the view!

The stock intake is only pulling 50% of the air through the scoop…. Maybe opening up those heat extractors and making them functional would do some good!

Noticed the IAT gauge showing 77 degrees, and they said the air temp outside was 27 degrees. Looks like the intake is pulling in some warm engine compartment air.

Dumbest mod ever, you said it's 27* outside? Looking at the video, the Intake Air Temps went from 71* at idle (they would be much lower if it was still a true ram air/cold air setup) and even hit almost 90* under WOT... When the stock intake would have had cold air forced into the intake through the hood. What a waste!

@@meatpunch9144 Check out the new AFE "super stock" set up. New drop in filters and a new intake tube from the factory box to the throttle body that gets rid of the intake tube resonator. I watch these intakes being made 10 at a time. They're gone soon as they're made. Not a one stays awaiting a color choice. I've never heard a stock intake trx yet getting stomped on. We always end up turning them up. One was on e85 and we did a drift sideways in it 25psi. Never forget that day. Amazing.

I have a question you may be able to help with since I just saw on watch JR go that you are a Mopar tech. I have an 01 Ram 3500 5.9 magnum that had low idle plus stalled during braking. I replaced the iac with a parts store one (all they had) reset the computer to relearn idle cleaned tb and it idles at 1500rpm now. Do you think it's the parts store iac?

I could be the iac sticking, you could try tapping the iac with a screwdriver or wrench with the truck running to see if it changes anything. 5.2's and 5.9's also will have intake bellypan gaskets leak and cause vacuum leaks but that would explain why it wasn't doing it before? That's a weird one?

Will this void the warranty? I know majority of CIA won't. Also, isn't there some sort of baffle on the stock intake that muffles the sc sound? I would check on mine but its still not built yet 🙄

Hi. Nice video. At 10:18 when getting out of the garage. The trx hasa squeake noise in the engine. My trx has the same anoying noise. Have you try to get your to the dealer to fix it?

Hello how are you.I wanted to ask about the wheel lug nuts. Mine are chrome and wanted black oem do you know if the ram rebel nuts fit or if Gmc has oem black ones that fit the TRX. Don’t like to powder coat them or aftermarket wanted to get oem ones that fit.

7:12 so now we're scavenging intakes? Using one to pull air through the other. Never considered that process, though the collision into that collector would cause the air to be turbulent. Was there a cone to guide it smother? Like the cone you'd see inside a good set of long tubes at the collector to smoothly merge the air pluses

Will my manufacture warranty be voided if I add a cold air intake to my TRX ?

With just a cold air intake installed there should be no reason of any warranty issues, now if the intake was installed wrong, fell off and the engine sucked up dirt and sand and caused an engine failure than that would probably cause the factory warranty to not cover the engine damaged since it was caused directly by an aftermarket part.
