Daily Ramadan Routine:
- The night before each day of Ramadan, I set the alarm for suhoor time.
- I wake up for suhoor when the alarm goes off (not instantly!), and then wash my face with cold water to help me wake up.
- I head downstairs and prepare a suhoor meal for my husband and I (and my children if they are fasting). For an idea of the kinds of meals we have for suhoor, watch my suhoor meal ideas video: • 5 Quick & Healthy Suho...
- After eating the suhoor meal, I head back upstairs, make intention to fast, brush my teeth and perform wudhu.
- I pray Fajr salah and read a few pages of the Qur'an, and then set the alarm for around 7.30am (for work or to drop kids off at school).
- Once I have dropped the kids off at school, I return home and catch up on light chores (nothing too strenuous as I don't want to struggle with my fast later in the day). I then edit my videos - I like to complete tasks in the morning as I feel most productive in the morning.
- At midday, I plan the iftar meal. If I need groceries for the iftar meal, I shop for them and prepare as much of the iftar meal as I can before the kids return from school.
- I pray my dhuhr salah and read a few more pages of the Qur'an.
- When the kids come home from school, I give them their tea/dinner, and relax for approximately an hour. I will either browse through KZbin videos on my phone, or watch Islamic programmes on TV.
- I then pray Asr salah and read a few more pages of the Qur'an. I read a little extra at Asr because I know I will not have the energy to read Qur'an at maghrib time.
- I finish preparing the meal for iftar, and when the sun sets, I break my fast with water and dates, followed by yummy fresh fruit (mangoes and melons being my Ramadan favourites!).
- I pray maghrib salah, and then have my main iftar meal. For ideas on the types of Iftar meals that I like to have, watch my iftar meal ideas video: • 5 Quick & Delicious If...
- I am usually really tired after breaking my fast. I relax for a little while, then pray Isha and taraweeh prayer, followed by a few pages of the Qur'an.
- I finish my day by having a much needed coffee and my favourite chocolate bar or cake slice.
- Then...the whole process is repeated :D
