Very informative. When I travelled by this train last month from Bangalore to Chennai, it was late by half an hour when it reached arakonam at 7:20 pm. After that it blazed away to reach Perambur at 8:05 pm and Chennai central at 8:15. Finally 15 mins ahead of time. WAP 7 rocks.

Arakonam - Chennai is 69Km. So if they do 90Km then it should take only 45 min!!. There is slack built into the time table!! to make up late running!

EOGs will remain as a back-up power source in case of OHE or loco failure. This is especially important in case of fully-airconditioned rakes such as Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Humsafar, etc. It's just that HOG will enable the EOGs to stay off under normal electrified conditions, saving enormous amounts of diesel fuel. The RPM loco in your video is one of the older WAP-7 locos to which HOG capability has been retrofitted. The latest batches of WAP-7 assembled at DLW Varanasi roll out with HOG factory-fitted.

How do you get such close access to strictly departmental works of the Railways? I mean, public are off-limits to such operations, especially to view or get close to the cabins. I have personally seen Railway employees or RPF shoo away curious on-lookers when any such work is done. Also there is a security issue. Now myself and everyone who watched this video know that the black cable is the control cable between the Loco and HOG. Anti-social elements can sabotage that.

The EOG car creates an enormous racket while the train is on the platform. Train 18 and train 20 will solve the hassle of HOG coupling as well...

@@supritimroy7216 No, EOG bogies are generator cum luggage bogies. Generator part is small, luggage part is big. Also EOG will be at standby if some problem happens. 99percent, engine failures doesn't happen as it has failsafe mechanism and is highly maintained ......

Engine failures happen very rarely in WAP 7 series. It has a failsafe mechanism, dual IGBTs so that if 1 fails other will be there. Also it's highly maintained so that there are 0 failures, like in aeroplane.....
