I grew up in the US and have been exposed to all different types of music. I have been listening Carnatuc music courtesy of my dad's interest. Ramana is on another plane while playing/singing. I was instantly transported to the heavenly abode by this young man's bhakthi bhava. I hope to see more and more if this young man. I hope he will be coming to the US on tour! Peaceful. I could observe one thing in this kriti. The sahitya splits the tala in a different manner when compared to other mishra Chapu kritis. I could feel as if I was missing the tala in the middle of the avartas. But, perfectly fitted!!

Back in early 1990's at the Flushing, Queens, New York Mahaganapti temple a young vidushi, Jayamagala, sishya of the great TR Subramoniam, sang the Neelambari song with the sahitya of Manji's Brovavamma tamasamele with the charanam segment deviating slightly. TRS, my dear friend, was in the audience seated next to me. As soon as Kumari(then) Jayamangala began the pallavi, TRS mumbled : Manji pattu? "Alla saar, Neelambari pattu saar", Jayamangala in gurubhakti humility corrected her guuruji. At the conclusion of the song TRS led a standing ovation(vary rare occurring in Carnatic music etiquette. I still remember that proud evening even in my septuagenarian old age in California -- far far away from New York. This yong vainika with Patri to his right is delighting us and making us proud that our inimitable music shall never die. Vainika-gayaka Ramana ... I love you. I love you Patri. Narayanakurup Kanthikumar in the sunny and (hot) River Islands town by the lake in Calif on a Friday morning. Namaskar to all musicians and rasikas far and wide as we recover from the ravages of the pandemic.

Neelambari.Janyam of 29th mela Shankarabaranam...is soothing like a lullaby. It is the 'Megaraga Kurinji'of the ancient Tamizh pann system that to induce sleep and also have some sleep promoting qualities even!! Here the young vocalist cum veena player performed., ie.sang and simultaneously played veena melodiously. Best wishes

I am not sure if this raag is supposed to be played at which time of a day but this is my morning raaga. I listen to it while doing my morning chores. Looking for a guru to learn Carnatic classical so badly but hard luck. There is something about Carnatic Music, I am a north Indian, have some training in Hindustani Classical but I can't help myslf but drift towards this.

The raga is neelambari and is supposed to be played at night. It soothes your mind and bring calmness at first and then take you to a deep sleep. This raga is capable of curing insomnia or sleeplessness.

Not sure what you mean by "hindi version". If you want the meaning of the lyrics, there are translations of this from tamil to english that you can read online. If you want a cover of this music in hindi, someone needs to translate, compose, and perform this classical piece in hindi, and that would be no small feat..

This is a tradition of south india similar to north indian hindustani music. Film songs are totally different. This keerthanam is in telugu language even tamils and malayalees will listen it in telugu only. We have tamil or malayalam keerthanams already written in our language if we want we would listen to them but translating this particular song to other regional languages will not be a good option. You will lose the essence of the while keerthanam.
