Every single Led Zeppelin interview is about the mythos of the band. That's all well and good, but I want to hear one of them talk in depth about making music while they still can.

@@imthebatking Couldn't agree more! It's a shame so few have actually cared to ask about the music itself. 50 years, and we have like 3 interviews about the actual music. Wild.

There's a looseness I liken to Funk styles I think Jimmy employs. Almost as if he mixes 4/4 with 6/8--or, it's those swing notes that accentuate his style. Ask him.😮
@Raptorman0909
@Raptorman0909 8 ай бұрын
He was never the most technical guitarist, but few could match his delicate control. He played many different styles and he hooked up with three other guys that could play or sing as good as anybody. They had a lot of stuff down cold before going into the studio to cut LZ1. And, you can here it as one masterful song transitions beautifully into another amazing piece. If you haven't sat down and listened to LZ1, start to finish, I HIGHLY recommend doing so! You're welcome!

I learned this song recently, which gave me renewed appreciation for it. The way he takes some chord changes that are at the core pretty simple and embellishes them with different voicings, variations, and extensions -- all within a single measure, let alone the variations across measures and verses -- is pretty amazing. And even just the initial voicing of the E chord by itself is pretty cool -- with the low open E string played under the E barre chord, it makes for a voicing that follows the harmonic series. I.e. all the notes are an integer multiple of that base frequency, the low E.

It's amazing what you can notice when you are really good at your job! As a Manager of a Priniting company, I was 60' away from our matched pair of machines, one bring 6 months older than the other. I could hear, through all the other noise on the shop floor, that one of two machines was having an issue, so I stopped walking and listened and decided that due to the brighter sound that I could hear, it was the newer of the two machines and the high note it was making, sounded like a Stitching Head dropping a stitch, the low clunk it was making sounded more like the older Head Stitch and not the Tail Stitch, so I called out to the Supervisor and gave him the head stitch sign, two bent fingers into the top of your head and he went around the machine and had a look and was astounded that it was dropping the head stitch. Yes, I was really good at my job and I was well paid but funnily enough it didn't afford me the chance to buy my own Boeing 720!
