Last minute gig, cramming 30 songs. No time to learn original version. This video was extremely helpful. A very nice pattern without sounding repetitious. Thank you.

Seems like you don't hear this type of bass line in today's candy-coated crap music.

Last minute gig here as well. Know the song well but not the bass line. Thanks for this version. Playing it on upright bass so will be dummying it down even more. Won’t be tuning to Eb though unless it the last song in the set.

Nice video, very informative and I agree with popoaggie; this style of bass playing is sorely missing now. Another note on the tuning though, anyone wanting to play along with any of the live recordings will need to have their guitars in standard tuning. It is understandable though, as it would have been a faff for even the Allman Brothers to all tune down half a step for one song. This was in the age where you pretty much had one guitar and did the whole gig with that.

I thought Southbound was too but once I figured the runs were based on the chords it was easy. Think like that for a reference.

Btw I'm a p bass man forever but have been thinking about adding a jazz for more complexity. That's a nice one there. What you got there?

Sorry, but you are not correct about the Key of this song. You have it in "A". It's actually in "G". They recorded this at pitch, then sped the tape up to "G#". All you have to do is watch any LIVE performance of the song to know that. Don't make it harder than it has to be. All good. I've been teaching for many years. Once you have the correct key, most songs are pretty easy. Just the way it should be.
