When this body style came out in 1949 it was considered ultra streamline.They sold extremely well and are still my favorite ford years and all steel. I'd love this one as my daily driver, CA weather of coarse! Thanks for all of your vids!!

Bought an identical '51 in '69 for $500! It had about 92K on the odometer also, yet it ran like new. No problems at all, very reliable flathead.

Nice choice Jeff, the chrome is awesome on this one. It looks like they had a nice solid car to begin with.

Nice old shoebox there! I don't see too many '51s at car shows, mostly '49 and '50s. They're nice when they haven't been butchered up with orange engines and all that kinda junk. lol.

That's true, I don't see nearly as many of the 51's either. Thanks for checking it out!

Yeah, it was great to see it still has the flathead in there. Dual exhaust is definitely a must. Thanks for taking a look!

Hey Jeff! Thank you so much for doing what you do. It really makes my day when I see a video from you ready to view. Not to make light of the Beautiful 1951 Ford you have here but I had to look up that 1956 Chevy green and Ivory hard top. It's listing for $14,995 on their web sight. That seems like fair money for that car. The web sight pics are tiny now and it's hard to know it looks that nice up close or 20 ft. away. Gosh I wish I had the time to travel around and Ramble. :)

I'll have to take a look at that Chevy the next time I'm over there. Thanks for watching Gene, we appreciate it!

In 1951, at age 5, my family bought a brand new, dark blue, 1951 Ford Sedan (basic model) for $1,650! ( I don't recall it being called a "Shoebox" though!) Within a few weeks of purchasing, the "Ford" emblem was stolen (teens used them for belt buckles)! It looked good, but since it was the third year of that design, it quickly became 'dated', when the all new, futuristic 1952 models came out & only lasted until 1960!

Do you have any more 1951 Ford two door sedan black like the one you had seven years ago that you sold
@teriscott61895 жыл бұрын
Hello, My name is Teresa Scott and I am in search of my fathers first car, a 1951 Ford Custom Deluxe 2 door coupe with a flathead V8 and 3 speed straight shift on the column. The original color was baby blue. He then completely customized it in 1957. My father is turning 80 in December and I would like to at least have a picture of this car to give him at his party Dec. 07. He sold it around 1959-1962 in Lima, Ohio. Can you help with this? The following are the customization's he did to the car in hopes this information will help find the car if its still around. I am afraid I do not have the VIN number. Painted it black and white/ installed seat covers(black & white)/painted all the interior metal trim black and side panels black and white/ added fender skirts on rear and painted all wheels black/added Olds Starfire wheel covers/ removed several emblems on side and trunk, hood ornament/ replaced muffler with a glass pack type/lowered the rear of the car 4 inches at the axel/ cut the bottom of the steering wheel off/ added exhaust cutout/moved the shift lever to the opposite side/modified the dash to add a hidden compartment/ wired hidden switch on tail lights, brake lights and license plate light. Yes, he was a bit of a rebel. Ended up retiring as Fiber Optic Engineer. Turns out he had a genius IQ. lol Any suggestions to help me find this car would be greatly appreciated!! Sincerely, Teresa Scott teriscott1966@gmail.com

I have heard the term shoebox, but not sure why they were called them.
@RamblinAround10 жыл бұрын
They were called shoebox Fords, because of their boxy, slab-sided design. If you look at cars prior to 1949, you'll notice that they had fenders that are a bit separate from the body. In 1949, they made the fenders even with the rest of the body and that, combined with a relative flat nose on the car, made them look a bit like a shoebox.
