Each symbol highlights their own set of squares in their own set of locations. You click on the highlighted ones to turn them gray, then you have to get them highlighted again to remove them. But at the same time you have to make sure the square you click on has something to highlight because if they have nothing to highlight the hack fails

Technically the monkey guy gave more info than usual by telling them exactly what tools they need for the heist. Which is way more info than in the old days where you would go to any heist carrying all the damn tools. The reason devs wont add a way to figure out the hacks prior to the heist is because they want people to struggle and take time to beat the heist, that makes it more exciting. At the end of the day the devs want more eyes on the streams so they wouldn't want an instantly clearable day one heist.

The server doesn't follow IRL things like getting caught robbing a bank costing you years of your life. It's totally fine to trial and error, getting caught sucks but just not that much. Also, how boring would it be to watch streams of them reading books or taking classes in order to learn security systems only for them to rob the bank once? Lol hell no, I'll take this method.
