Haifisch is one of my favorites from "Liebe ist für alle da". I still remember seeing this music video on VIVA or MTV for the first time when I was 14. It was my first music of any Rammstein song and I only knew the Bands songs from listening to them with my dad. It certainly left am impression on me

Of course, it makes more sense to watch the video only if you had seen the other Rammstein videos. This video here is a murder case. Till is apparently dead and each of the band members suspects one of the others killed him. These thoughts are shown here by paraphrasing the old rammstein videos. For example, in "Ohne dich" Till died in a mountaineering accident. In this video here, one of the members suspects that someone else may have cut the rope. Here are some of these changed callbacks. In the end, however, we see that Till has only faked his death and that he is having a good time. Btw. Merilyn Manson was also at the funeral. The song itself is about the inseparable nature of the band.

Haifisch means shark in englisch and the main line from this song is an adaptation from Bertolt Brechts Threepenny Opera precisely from 'The Ballad of Mack the Knife'. This line is taken from that line: 'the shark has theet and the theet he carrys in his face. But Mack the Knife has a knife but the knife you won't see' for a more accurate tranlation you can listen to the ballad here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4K2dmqad7KrirM. The new line goes as follows: 'The shark has tears and these tears run from his face, but the shark lives in water so the tears nobody sees.' If have found this line very poetic and it moved me quite a bit.

The only time Rammstein works is when all six are together. With Till's apparent death, they all suspect each other of killing him and retell past videos to show how each one would have killed him. Till isn't dead of course so there's no need for either Henry Rollins or James Hetfield to replace him. Everything falls apart without one band member and they all turn on each other. Till of course is living it up abroad and cheekily sends the rest of the band members a postcard saying Greetings from the arse end of the world. They only work as a unit and that's the bottom line.
