The show in 1998,live aus Berlín in my opinion is the best concert of rammstein,I see the show in VHS in 1999 the first time hearing rammstein in this year

I believe the rooster represents his manhood and the last line is metaphorical for his morning, um, desire for her which drives the madness. So he chops it off to end his lust and maybe his life if it kills him. Brilliant writing.

Ive listened to ths song for years and love it but i never knew what it was about, I agree it is a sad song in a way, especially when you read the lyrics, I certainly wouldnt think it was about necro. Still a great track which i will continue to play on my daily playliist and of course du hast another fab track which is also on my playlist along with several other Rammstein classics, Thanks for the reaction.

It's interesting to listen to the two songs as perhaps 2 chapters of the same song. First (heirate mich) from the living's perspective. Asking the dead girlfriend to marry him. The second chapter (Du Hast) from the girlfriends perspective. Du hast mich gefragt und ich habe nichts gesagt (you asked me and I said nothing). Could be a very interesting dig into both songs. To me it seems that there is some christian symbolism by Tills performance at the start of the show (beside Madness); rise from the dead and the suffering Jesus on the cross. Also notable is that he dropped the last verse of Heirate Mich (maybe to have a smoother shift to the next song).
