Can't decide between this version and Wacken. The Wacken performance was scarier and more serious without any special effects. This one has the very effective moment of darkness and silence after "das Licht geht aus". Both great.

The difference between the two is they don't show any faces in the audience on the Wacken performance. This they do.

Wiener Blut was of course written in response to the crimes of Josef Fritzel and I can't help but wonder if the off kilter way the song is performed doesn't mimic the off kilter way that Fritzel treated his daughter Elisabeth in the cellar. One minute, the living father act, the next, the rapist and incestuous monster. Having the dolls hanging above the stage with the lasers shining through their eyes was genius. Like the eyes of his children/grandchildren he produced with his daughter looking at him. The performance you saw way back was the one at Wacken and was very different. Just as eerie and unsettling but in a different way.

The perpetrator, Josef Fritzl, could have been released in 2023. However, an appeals court has arranged for further placement in an institution for the mentally disturbed. "There is still a serious, untreatable illness, argues the court of appeal. It agrees with the public prosecutor's office, who appealed against the end of the incarceration."
