Alpha Male Drives Hard ..yes!! 🤣 I loved the songs in the movies, it’s what got me into rock in a time when pop music was all I ever knew due to having no internet to find other genres. And still today I hear these songs and say “oh it’s that song off school of rock” about every song on school of rock... Lol. Classic

Luis Mario is right. Johnny loved Reagan and didn't want to do this song; it's a miracle not only that they record it, but even that they included it in the live set list; Dee Dee wasn't against Reagan that much, but didn't like what he said in Bitburg; Joey was ABSOLUTELY against Reagan.

It's odd how I never really see people talking about the message of this song when it's such an explicitly political song. It's almost like the song is too good for it's own good. No one really takes the message to heart because they're distracted by how good the song sounds musically.

Agreed! The lyrics could really be about anything as long as they are angry about something and it would work because the tune itself and its hooks are so good.
@mjriemen3 жыл бұрын
The lyrics are *VERY* specific. In general people like songs they can relate to in one way or the other. Not many people in the past 30 years can relate to anything having to do with Ronald Reagan. Also, I think more than a few people, myself included, take Johnnys side on this one in regards to the lyrics and not necessarily agree with them. He didnt like the message but played it anyway. I think its one of The Ramones best and most complete songs from start to finish. Lots of Ramones songs have a sing along chorus or whatever but are otherwise kinda incomplete. This song has all the structor of a great song. Without knowing what the lyrics are in reference to, they seem just kinda obscure.

Animal-Boy is an underrated Ramones Album! imho! especially when you consider it originally started life as a soundtrack to a low budget B movie that ended up never being finished/released never really seeing the light of day! so The Ramones just decided basically somewhat last minute to re-work it as their next studio album! atleast so i read once a while back!...
