The hand in which Brandon has 4d-2d on a board of 9d-Td-Ks-6h-Qd, Brandon bets nearly pot on the river with a bet of 23k into a pot of 26k; Rampage has Ah-Jd and raises the river! I think it's a terrible play by Rampage. First off, there are tons of flush draws in Brandon's range. Secondly, with such a polarizing river bet size by Brandon, he is announcing he has a flush or a bluff. There is absolutely no reason for Rampage to raise. Just call Brandon's bet on the river, Rampage!

Coming from a former low stakes player and current gambling addict (6 years and 4 months clean without a single bet on anything), hopefully you read this and you might be able to take something positive from it. 1. Stop playing nosebleed stakes. Take your time and play mid-level games again, to not only rebuild your bankroll but your confidence. Those high limit games aren't going anywhere. 2. That voice that's in your head telling you you're punting off your stack, the one you ignore and subsequently punt off your stack? Listen to it. You know poker is a game of patient aggression. Yes you have to mix it up to keep people off guard, but that doesn't mean let them get a read on you because you're playing desperately. 3. As Ivan Vanko said in Iron Man 2, "Don't get too attached to any one thing, learn to let go". Apply that philosophy to a hand that you know isn't a winner less than a third of the time. Better to leave with a tiny loss than a huge one. Use the instincts you were using when you built your stack and your table persona.

Brad has a ton more revenue coming in from the Lodge. And, Brad has to manage his funds different because he has a family. It is 100% different to be broke and single as opposed to broke with a wife and kids. I agree with ur sentiments; Brad has experienced the ups and downs earlier in his career, but he also put in tons of studying to get better and grinded more at the medium stakes, then only takes a few shots every now and then at the nose bleeds. Here is one thing that shows the disparity between Brad and Rampage; Rampage is constantly being invited to the bigger games because he is such an active player whereas we don't see Brad in these games as often. Maybe it's Brad's personal choice to deny the invite, I ain't sure on that, but Brad definitely plays more within his means as far as stakes and table selection.

This reminds me of equity trading, when you are ignoring what is going on, trading bigger and bigger to get back the losses, refuse to admit you are wrong, and adding to losers in the hopes it will turn around. One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was "trade like Spock, no emotion, only logic". Of course this is easier said than done, and poker is not the same as trading, but now it seems you are all emotion, and no logic.
@musicman102357

Perfect analogy. I day trade full time, been doing so for over a decade . The worst trades I made were when I was down on the day and tried to make it up with even worse trades. I was trading on emotion and not logic . Now I would do this not very often however when I did most of the time I lost big. Ethan has a big problem , he is a gambler and has no self control , he also wont listen to anyone as people for the last year or so have been posting the obvious about his bad play. Sure occasionally with his type of play one will get lucky . He is playing these high stakes games against people who have huge bankrolls and know how bad he plays. He needs an intervention , he may get lucky again and win big but it wont matter because he will just piss it all away eventually. He is a good guy we all want to see him come out ahead here .

I can see from your decisions, your despair, your face, your mood, your tiredness that you are not well, in your head you only have to win at all costs and do things well again but impatience pushes you to do the opposite. I get the playing loose preflop for high vpip because it's a stream, but that doesn't mean u gotta win every single pot by bullying the table. 1/3 players will fold o lots of aggression; not these guys that have the cash to just load back up. Rampage should be tightening up on the flop instead of going for it every time.

Hey Ethan - That was brave to post that video knowing you would get slaughtered by so many people in the comments. You got a lot of heart and watching that was tough knowing how awful it would have been to go through. Definitely not the best you ever played. Poker is a hard game and playing at these levels is something you should seriously reconsider. Your young so you can bounce back and learn from this. When people tell you that your a bad player with no feel and you were just lucky before don’t listen to that bullshit - you have achieved way more in poker than anyone commenting here so what makes them think they are qualified to tell you this. When people tell you to step back, go down in stakes and stop gambling - do listen to that. Maybe look at your buddy Wolfgang - he is half the player you are but he is focussing on poker content and has over a million subscribers while playing manageable stakes. Similar to him you make great content so maybe put more focus on that channel.

I don't think jamming for 128k vs jamming for around 90k was a mistake as it provided you more fold equity. The mistake was discounting the front door flush then not giving yourself the opportunity to raise fold.

BTW much respect for being transparent with your ups and downs in poker. Play betrer cards and youll be fine. People are gonna say whatever they want, but end of the day, I rarely see other players blogging the downside as they're going thru it. Everyone wants to hear about sunshine and rainbows, but poker can be a bitch sometimes. It's how you react that's the hardest part. Taking it like a champ from what I see. And u can always move down, take a mini break, study, study, study etc. Sry, long-winded way of saying good shit.

First video I’m seeing of you. Respect for the transparency, I wouldn’t have it in me to post this. But since you did I’m assuming you could take some feedback. I’ve been playing for 17 years and never had huge wins nor huge losses, though profitable long term - like you said it comes with the territory, but frankly that’s not true when you’re a real professional, which personally never treated poker as such outside of a recreational hobby. Professionally I work as a trader so I deal with risk management on a daily basis. Based on my observation of your game here, this does not look like a one off tilt session. Again, never seen others so what do I know. But this is the type of play/tilt whatever you want to call it that ruins lives. Im not sure how you made your money, so if it was entirely from poker I’d say go back to the basics and play 2-5 until you realize how flawed your game was here. Normally I’d say you’ll get back on your feet and I’m sure you will. But you need to implement risk management protocols to stop playing or you’ll find yourself fucked eventually. If you’re honest with yourself and this was a uniquely tilty day you’ve never had, then Godspeed and GL, genuinely hope that’s the case. People love a good bounce back story so if you do this right you’ll be rewarded. Keep your mind strong or you’ll lose it all

Hey man, this may be a good time to step away from the game for a while. It seems like you’re playing quite emotionally, and poker is not a forgiving environment for that. Take some time off to think on what you want out of your life, maybe shift towards making more content about things you enjoy outside of poker. It’s completely okay to throw in the white flag for the time being, and come back in some time when you’re in a better place mentally. I don’t think anyone will play well when they’re focused on the fact that they are on a million dollar downswing.

A quick Grandpa anecdote that may apply here - Back in the '50's my Grandpa was on a pheasant hunting trip in South Dakota. One evening after hunting, while drinking in a local bar, he got invited to play in a poker game going on in the back. The stakes were a fair bit higher than what he usually played back home, but Grandpa considered himself a pretty good poker player, and he figured he was up to the challenge. He ended up losing all the money he had with him. Apparently, this loss really ate at him, because he returned home to Wisconsin, sold some of his real estate holdings, and drove right back to South Dakota, now armed with a "big" bankroll, determined to "get his money back". (He had chalked up his previous loss to being under-bankrolled for the game). He ended up losing ALL of the bankroll he'd brought, and this time it was a large enough sum that it had a real impact on his personal finances. He did NOT go back for a third try. He said to me, "One of the hardest things I ever did was to admit to myself that I couldn't beat that game."

After watching the end, I must say your honesty is commendable, it seems clear you put too much pressure on yourself and got in over your head. It is easy for people to judge and comment but you took a shot at least, sometimes it is not in the cards. The best poker players have to have a complete detachment from money, win or lose it’s just a tool, but losing significant amounts of money above your comfort level can obviously be very challenging to process and accept. It is hard to justify playing your cards the way you did especially after knowing you sold pieces of yourself to others. I think your idea to take a break is solid, there is nothing wrong with self reflection and even seeking counseling since it is the most healthy way to deal with stress of such magnitude. Keep your head up and good luck, you will feel better in time. Peace.
