Wonderful. My son is learning to fly at Redhill and I love watching the Air Ambulances while he is having his lessons. Fabulous people doing fabulous work. Thanks to all involved in providing this vital service in Surrey, Sussex and Kent.

Nice to see G-SASX in the old colour scheme. She was at Redhill as a relief for KSSAAT whilst one of their 169's was down for heavy maintenance in Gloucestershire. SASX has since been sold to NHV, resprayed yellow and now operates offshore.

I really like those in Hebrew blade tips on the rotor blades, I wish they'd do the same for tail rotor blades.

The P&W 210 engines are relatively small ones in size compared to their massive output power, so a simple onboard battery start is possible.

The #1 engine is started in APU /accessory mode and is disconnected from the main rotor drive. The #2 engine is started using electrical power generated by the other engine to get the rotors moving. Once the rotors are at operating speed, the #1 engine is connected to the main drive via an electrically actuated clutch.

Is it allowed to enable the rotor brake while both engines are at idle?

No I believe one has a clutch but the other is connected to the blades regardless

I believe you’re correct @ramperryan as it has an APU mode which is on one of the engines. Akin to how an ATR can only APU mode on the number 2 engine, more obvious on a fixed wing!
