'Ramping Up to Revelation': Are the End Times Upon Us?

Wars. Rumors of wars. Famines. Pestilences. Earthquakes. These are just some of the "birth pains" Jesus said will precede the biblical end times. And with a solar eclipse, a random earthquake in the northeast, and continued consternation in the Middle East dominating headlines, it should come as no surprise end of days speculation is currently kicking back up in recent days and weeks.
Prophecy expert Jeff Kinley, author of "God's Grand Finale" and the coming book, "The End of the World According to Jesus of Nazareth," weighed in on these dynamics, offering an explainer about what the Bible actually says - and why it matters. "Jesus and Matthew 24 list a ton of signs that will precursor [Christ's] Second Coming, and it basically mirrors the Book of Revelation - the first half of Revelation," Kinley said. "And in those signs you have ... things like wars, you have rumors of wars, you have famines ... earthquakes, and then Jesus said, 'All these things are merely the beginnings of birth pangs.'"
The author went on to say he believes Christ is talking about the Tribulation period, a time during the end of days some Christians believe will be characterized by God's judgment. As far as what's happening in the world today, Kinley believes its a "ramping up to Revelation." "It's like when you're watching a baseball game or a football game," he said. "You're watching the quarterback, you're watching the pitcher, you're watching where the ball is, essentially."
Kinley continued, "Well, where the ball is prophetically is Israel, and, so, if you want to know really kind of put your finger on the pulse of what's going on prophetically, you need to look at Israel." Anyone looking at Israel right now can see the nation is locked in a great battle against Hamas, Hezbollah, and, more broadly, Iran. Kinley said focusing on this dispute - and region - is essential if Christians want to truly understand what's happening.
"All eyes should be on Israel, because the Bible says that God is going to bring ... the global narrative in the end times back to Israel, back to Jerusalem," he said. "And all the things that are taking place were prophesied - these foreshadows were prophesied many thousands of years ago." Kinley said the Bible predicts that nations will come against Israel in the last days, and pondered whether what's unfolding right now is the "preseason to the actual events that Christ and others" predicted would one day take form.

I think we need to be really careful about how we present what God is and isn’t doing based on the eclipse. We also need to be aware of events in the Middle East. Keep in mind, Daniel makes it clear, there will be a temple built some time during the final seven years. No temple, we can’t be absolutely certain. Of course, we should still take repentance seriously. Keep an eye open and stay awake.

But this can still take some time. Building that temple still needs to undergo a geopolitical change. I think this current war and coming greater war with Iran may just set the atmosphere for them to do so. But who knows how long this war will be. I wish no one would say it could be 500 years until Jesus comes. It can not be and it only gives unsaved a feeling of having much time. We don't have to set dates or even say it close but lets not go the other extreme.

Heres a thought: Daniel saw two angels by a river. They said it would be a time, times and half a time (which refers to the great tribulation). However, prophecy often has dual meanings. So I wonder if Daniel, who existed roughly two and a half millennia ago, was right in the middle of human history. Three and a half thousand years after creation and three and a half thousand years before judgment day (if the millennial kingdom begins soon). We also have three and a half 2000 year ages. Adam to Abraham, Abraham to Jesus, Jesus to his return and the 1000 year reign, a total of 7000 years.

Actually as chrsitian I believe that EVERY DAY is hte end times. And what do I mean by that? I mean that every day a lot of inviduals die and are separated from this world. I believe that at the very moment of death it is "set" if a person is saved in the loving power of the blood of Christ. Therefore I think "the last day/ day of judgement" is every day. This perspective is ALLWAYS FORGOTTEN, and I´ve never seen anyone but myself mentioning it. 🙂 But think about it .the most important perspective of all about the end times as I would think.

A reader trying to interpret John or any other ancient prophet will always be missing one simple tool...their eyes. No one living today can possibly know what John really saw. Let me explain. John's understanding of technology was limited to wagons and horses. His understanding of animals was limited to what he saw, mouth to mouth accounts and mythic tales. For example...if John was shown a glimpse of the future and part of what he saw was an A-10 Warthog, with sharks teeth painted under the canopy and 30 mm rounds erupting from the mouth with a thunderous roar, he might be inclined to think it was a dragon. What description would he give for a breaching submarine or a helmeted soldier in a wingsuit? Every generation since the writing of Revelations has thought their generation was what John was describing. What if John was really writing about a future that is 500 years from 2024? Would we recognize it? Would we understand what he was describing? With the speed that technology is advancing, probably not. Are we living in the last days? I don't know. Like many generations before this one who thought they were living in the last days, maybe we are. But no one really knows, except for the Father. Using what Jesus said about "signs of the times", we can give an estimation, but it really wouldn't be an educated one. How far does humanity, as a whole, have to fall before God says enough. Like in the days of Noah or Sodom?

Total eclipses happen 1-2x a year somewhere in the world so I don’t take it as a timeline thing cause nobody knows. To me it just declares plain as day there is a creator. Everyone should be concerned with their own sin including myself cause we will account individually not someone else. We should be ready to die right now, end times could be today, in a car wreck or whatever. USA has turned much into Babylon but there is also many churches who aren’t a part of it.
