Great video! I am sorry you have to deal with this. You are soooo strong. I can see that you are a fighter because you are learning how to deal with things in a healthy way... you haven't just given up and that my friend... that is what seperates a a "human being" from a "human doing"! So glad I found you on here. You are an encouragement.

Tanya, you're such a lovely and eloquent spokesperson for both of the disorders you have! Your coping mechanisms - and the degree to which you've mastered them - are so impressive. I myself am a 67-year-old woman who's had multiple sclerosis for about 28 years now (diagnosis was 25 years ago, after MRIs and a spinal tap). I'm on one of the injectable meds, an immunomodulator, and haven't had any attacks for 22 years (knock on wood)! The causes of our symptoms are different, as are the symptoms themselves, but your resting and relaxation exercises could help many of us, too. Thank you, and I've subscribed.

Yottabee thank you so much! I’m sure there’s a lot I could learn from you as well! Thank you for subscribing, I hope this channel helps you in various ways even though we have different conditions. When I was hospitalized in 2017 they also checked for MS with an MRI and Spinal tap. My neurologist repeats certain tests on me when I see him just to make sure the tone in my body hasn’t changed. I’m happy that you’ve been able to manage everything as I’m sure it’s been challenging for you. Let me know if you have any videos you’d like to see, or questions you’d like answered. If I find any more helpful relaxation exercises I’ll gladly share them. Hope you have a wonderful holiday season!

@@TanyatasticTalks aw, thanks for answering so soon! I have no doubt that many of your remedies and coping methods could be helpful to me, especially since some of my first symptoms were from cranial-nerve involvement of my MS. I was fascinated in this video by your use of the noise-cancelling headphones actually countered the nerve sensitivity you have in your right ear and thus stopped the blinking response you had. You are *remarkable*, creative, and resourceful at discovering specific methods to address the various different symptoms you have - hats off! And I, too, have had hearing abnormalities (in my case, temporary deafness in one ear from MS nerve involvement) and have constant ringing in both ears. I always tell my neuro, "My ears ring all the time, but I never answer them!" Corny humor has always been a coping "mechanism" of mine :). I'm getting to know your parents in some of your other videos, and they are warm, loving, and involved - no wonder you're such a sweetheart! We'll stay in touch as I learn more about how you're doing. Thanks!

Hi Tanya. Thank you for another video. You mentioned towards the end that you do a relaxation exercise. Would you be able to post the one you said in a previous video that you do for chronic pain? Really need it these days. Thank you so much.

I don’t know if you still check this, but I found your videos and they’ve been so hopeful for me. What kind of help did you find for the balance and vertigo? The ENT just keeps telling me to wait and see and hopefully it will go away! It’s only been 5 weeks since RHS began. My face is back, but all doctors just tell me it will go away. In the meantime I can’t drive or teach. (I’m a high school Theatre teacher)

So sorry that you’re going through this! 5 weeks is still early in recovery. Vestibular therapy would help I’d say. My balance issues didn’t come from RHS, they came from a neurological condition that I developed because I wasn’t treated on time for the shingles. Where abouts do you live? There might be a centre similar to where I found treatment that would be close to where you are

Hi Tanya, thanks for sharing this video, going through the same right side of my face and shingles in my ear. Hope you can advise how long would i bave to deal with the symptoms as nothing seems to work on my medications🥺
@TanyatasticTalks Жыл бұрын
I wish I could give you a time frame! Every person goes through it differently. If you were treated on time with antivirals for the shingles and prednisone to help your nervous system regroup, you have a better chance at a good recovery. If you’ve just come down with it, rest as much as you can, that is what will help the most. Vitamin B12 helps with nerve regrowth.

I had rhs 3 years ago, and I still struggle. My face is working better, but far from perfect. My biggest struggle is still with balance and disorientation and fatigue.

I found treatment a year ago to address the symptoms I was experiencing- check out the other more recent videos to see the progress. I’m 98% recovered now which is amazing, I have my life back. Maybe you can find a centre where you live

Good video Tanya, very informative. In 2013 I had RHS on my right side and then two months later I was afflicted with Wallenberg's Syndrome. My face is still paralyzed and I'm deaf in my right ear, both from RHS. I have a great deal of trouble with throat spasms, especially when eating. I will get spasms in my throat that make me cough, choke and gag to the point of vomiting. What specifically do you do other than lay down to stop the spasm? This issue causes me more stress, embarrassment and discomfort than any other symptoms I have. You still rock the color pink by the way. :)
@TanyatasticTalks6 жыл бұрын
runinwlf I’ve thrown up too unfortunately because I couldn’t control the spams themselves. Just had another attack this week and I distracted myself as best as I could with KZbin videos, tried to just be in total darkness (the symptoms were because of a horrible migraine) and focus on sleeping and my breathing as best I could, don’t know if that helps, if I think of anything else I’ll let you know!

Do you find the noise cancelling headphones help with facial twitching? I get it when I'm not doing anything really. Driving in my car, sitting watching tv.
@TanyatasticTalks11 ай бұрын
No I didn’t find they helped with that. I did find treatment if you’ve watched my later videos through Ottawa Performance Care. My facial twitches disappeared a few months after my week of treatment, which I wasn’t expecting!
