Remembering Ramsey Lewis (1935 - 2022). The Chicago native headed “Ramsey Lewis and his Gentle-men of Swing.” Dr. Lewis was one of the nation's most successful jazz pianists, topping the charts with "The In Crowd", "Hang On Sloopy" and "Wade in the Water". All three singles each sold over one million copies and were awarded gold discs. No more problems.

Ramsey is amazing. I saw him in Orlando when the song "Fish Bite" came out, but his older stuff with the fantastic Red Holt in the engine room keeping those beats is as good as it gets. Red is remarkable.

A great display of amazing talent. He starts with a rendition of "The In Crowd", then a soulful exhibition of Blues, and wraps it up with "Sun Goddess." The lead guitar and bassist really wail. This man has touched my soul for years and continues to do so. Thanks Ramsey! You are truly one of the all time greats!

There was that time when I went to the Bohemian Caverns in D.C. to see him record one of the most notable albums of all times. I went with some older guys from college who turned me on to cough syrup, which knocked me out. I listened to the album until the grooves were worn out. I still get sick when anybody mentions Robitussin around me.
