Our little gym was always seen as this terrible place by other training centre's. Mordor would of been super fitting. People spying through the window after hearing screams and chants only to see people fighting in gi's with no pants on, and there fighting so hard that your not sure if it's a Karate and judo dojo, because so much is happening at the same time, and the lack of pants makes it worse, sheer chaos and madness.

He didn't call it that however, it was just a flanked high kick. He did very good with his kickboxing. He had a few things that were pretty sneaky. The hooking of the leg however to off balance. Lol, iv been doing things similar for a very long time, and this is a completely new concept. Where has it been. Definatly trying to see what can be done with it.

In my limited experience, most deflecting/blocking techniques are not working in free sparring or real life situations, at least in a reactive manner. Footwork, positioning and dodging are way more important to success imo. They are the foundation to make any defensive techniques work as a reaction. But then they are less blocks, than gripping or off-balancing techniques. Those "defenses" work much better, in my experience, when applied in a proactive or pre-emptive manner, combined with body movement and footwork. To prohibit, off-balance, prepare takedowns etc. Especially within striking distance, a reactive block is often physiologically impossible, due to the built in reaction inertia. Just like you have to integrate neural and physical reaction time of the driver, and the mechanical reaction time of the vehicle when driving safe distance behind another car. I don't remember exactly, but from somewhere around 3 feet it is impossible to reactively block a state of the art, good, quick punch. I think, one can often see that in those"Tai Chi or Kung Fu Master vs. MMA fighter or Kickboxer" fights. The trad. MAs overly rely on the ability to reactively block a trained boxer's punches, while being static and neglecting the dodging and footwork.

in some kung fu; moves that the enemy cannot see are "Shadow Strikes". Like if you use their own guard to block their vision and sneak in an uppercut that would be considered a shadow strike. But if the strike is soooooo fast that they see it but its impossible to dodge this is a "canon" strike. And anything that hits the back of the head is a Rabbit strike because thats how you kill food-rabbits, by clubbing them in the back of the head.

CACC = win by pin or submission, no holds barred, best 2 out 3 falls wins, a tie at the time limit = sudden death round, first takedown wins. If you are playing guard and both shoulders touch the floor in CACC, that’s a pin and you lose.

There was one K1 fighter who used to do this head kick in pretty much all of his fights, where he would throw it as soon as the clinch was broken and so he scored many knockouts this way. Does anyone remember his name? Because I don't.
@Xzontyr Жыл бұрын
I don't think there was just one. A few guys would do that. It's not the same technique. This involves attacking from a blindside momentarily. We had some decent kickboxers come and train in our combat sambo sometimes, just to mix things up a bit. Some of them actually had great take down defense without a jacket on and should of taken up mma. One thing we learned against them was to create a hard angle after getting out of a clinch, or back the heck up, because yes, if they got a good clinch on you, they will come with some hard pressure and shots right after. We didn't always spar easy. Which was stupid. I was sparring with a fellow heavy weight, and we were actually focusing on k1 style rules, where long term clinching was seen as a foul if no real offense from knees was seen within that 5 seconds. So it was pretty fast paced. These guys knew how to pummel and switch. Anyways, I got in a clinch, got out early, luckily seen him switching and stepping, and just through instinct, with the second I had, I put up a high winged defense. There wasn't time for positioning, and bam, he slammed a high one right on my glove and arm. Even though most of the force was taken out, I still went down. Wasnt out, but was down, and wasnt getting up for a while. If I didn't block that it would of been bad. This guy was that coaches second best guy. He didn't do aswell as his number one, but was also in a different weight division. So yes, he kicked me pretty hard. There's the odd ufc fighter that still tries it I think. Even in pancrase I think Bas would use it often. Infact, I think it was one of his silver card techniques he used for a while, and than against a sticky opponent, he switched it up to a liver kick on the other side once they had expected it to the head studying his previous fights.

@michaelevans3856 Жыл бұрын
Hurt..it hurts.
@themetal Жыл бұрын
Well, the calves are some of the main muscles you need for mobility, balance, and power (even for the upper body strikes), a lot. It's not just a good spot for sweeps to remove balance, but in endurance fights you can handicap your opponents ability to move around and how much of their body they can put into punches and kicks. If you want to feel the effect yourself, do like fifty lunges and then spar and see how you feel.
@michaelevans3856 Жыл бұрын
