This was so helpful. Thank you. I feel like a lot of the videos I've seen has been for Officer housing and my husband is not an officer and we are heading there in a couple of months. Like for reals, this has helped put my mind at ease about a lot of things. Thank you!

Do you know if the 3 bedroom townhouses are a similar layout and also for NCO ranks?

It also has some good info on that page and DSN numbers you could call from work if you have more questions (click “housing website” link for number). Hope that helps😊

Thanks for sharing! I’ve heard there are apartment type quarters as well. Do you have a way of sharing those also? Would you say it’s more likely to get that than a townhome?

Hey Megan! I think it goes by family size and rank but don’t quote me. Try using a dsn and calling housing at Ramstein (I left the info in another answered question). As far as the apartments all of my friends live off base so I have no way of sharing those…sorry! Congrats on your orders.

Did you have to wait a while for this to become available? Was told prior to coming there was no wait, only to get here and see that was a lie 😑

Hello, Ma'am. I am a Senior NCO in the Army with assignment to Kaiserslautern just down the road from Ramstein. We just have one child and two pets. Is this something E7-E9 can look forward to getting? Thank you.

It goes by your rank as well as your dependent size I believe, so maybe not I’m not completely sure. I think you should call base housing’s dsn when you’re at work 314-489-6671. Then they can give you more precise answers. I am here if you need anything else we all have to help each other! Hey there! So glad someone shared this with me. We are heading there in a couple of months and trying to decide on post or off post. We are a family of 5, SNCO. Wondering if this is something we would be offered. The house looks nice and spacious, so that’s a big plus. Do you think the living room is big? We have a pretty big couch/sectional. Also, all our kids have a dresser, do you think it would take up a lot of the space in their rooms if we brought them over since it looked like all the rooms had built ins. Thanks for any additional advice and help you can offer. And thanks for the tour :)

Hey there! A dresser and bed would fit in the rooms…but if I was you and you feel like their things could fit in the built in I wouldn’t bring their dressers So you can use the space for other things but that’s up to you :). You could always use the free storage we did for our refrigerator and washer/dryer since it is provided in base housing! I do believe you will be offered a house this size. We moved in during peak PCS season. It took about a month. TLF is covered financially until you move into base housing if that’s the road you go. I will have a decorated house tour coming up to help with visualization once we finish unpacking! Thanks for watching!

@@thecalvocrewtv that’s all great info to have. I appreciate the response. We have been there before but that was about 10 years ago in Mannheim and Heidelberg. We are excited to head back. Our first choice was/is to live off post but we got curious on the post housing. Which is why I’m now asking all the questions lol. So I appreciate your video and feedback. You talk about free storage? Is that at your home or on post near your home? I saw the additional storage space next to your garage, is this what you’re talking about or is it a completely different area? And will be looking out for your next video of the house fully furnished ☺️. We have 2 elementary and 1 middle school. Are they walking distance and what’s your thoughts so far on the schools?

@@andrewlopez7897 free storage with your orders. The movers will store what you want up to a certain amount and the storage won’t be sent over….but it’ll be stored and sent to your next base or base of retirement/separation. You just have to let them know you want items stored before you move. My son is in 5th grade. All schools on Ramstein are walking distance…especially elementary through middle. Note: elementary k-2, intermediate 3-5th grade, middle school 6th-8th. A little different from stateside. My son loves his school (intermediate). I love it too! We all have to help each other, and I’m happy to help!

@@thecalvocrewtv ah ok. Yes, we plan to use NTS for our items we don’t plan to bring to Germany. But thank you again for the replies, you have been so helpful. So it sounds like I’ll have one in each school haha. 1st, 4th and 7th. But good to know they are walking distance. I’m looking forward to heading back, and the bakeries hahaha 🤣 maybe I’ll see you there!

My daughter is going to Landstuhl in about 6 months. What have you found to be the best phone plans and the best way to call stateside family?

I use WhatsApp or Facebook messenger because they are free. The best German phone plan is T-Mobile (German T-Mobile not US) located in the bx on base. The internet plan TKS that you can set up on base also offers a free house phone and house phone app with many of its packages. I’m excited for your daughter and thanks for watching.

First of all - welcome to Germany! However at 1:00 I'm wondering what you guys are going to use the garage instead it's originally intended use? Please keep in mind that the garage door is not insulated and there is no heating in this room, so it will always be just slightly warmer than outside and that will be very uncomfortably cold in just a few weeks time and depending on how cold the coming winter will be, it may even go below freezing temperatures! So I can imagine you may use it as a workout space to lift weights or run on a treadmill etc. in order to heat yourself up in this very cold room... And what do you do with your car? From late fall until well into spring next year there will be frost at night. Depending on how early in the mornings you want to use the car, you have to scrape the ice off the windows for minutes and then make sure that the windows don't mist up from the inside and possibly freeze over right after you start driving. Add some extra time to this procedure if there will be snow and you have to get rid of that too... So, depending on how much you need your car, and you like to use it as easy and quickly as possible, a garage like this is worth its weight in gold during winter time, because you can hop right in and easily avoid this extra effort. Just my 2 cents...

We are still considering what we are going to do in here…but that is definitely something I will think about. I’m from Philly (NE America) it gets really cold there too especially in our basement but we still use it as useable space during the summer, fall, and spring. I am not looking forward to scraping the cars again and heating them up but I’ve been there. Anyways, thank you for your advice it’s nice to have an extra opinion from someone who is actually from Germany😊.
