This is also VERY IMPORTANT... The best place for a ground rod is in moist soil or clay, such as a ditch bank. If the soil is completely dry, watering the grounding spot regularly will improve the grounding contact with the ground.

Because we are having a mild temp winter so far the ground is pretty saturated. I’ve always tested it in this spot as well as a few others and got positive results so something is of the matter. Thanks for the suggestions ☺️ Take care and Happy Holidays to you ✌🏻

Use a fence tester to measure the voltage between the shock pole of the shepherd and the grounding pole. The measuring probe of the tester goes to the shock pole of the shepherd and the grounding stick to the earth pole. If the voltage is close to the "highest voltage, Umax" reading indicated by the manufacturer, the shepherd is in good condition.
