Dhooska or Dhuska is a popular deep-fried snack eaten all over Jharkhand, India. The dish is one of the delicacy of Jharkhandi cuisine. The main ingredients in this savoury fried bread dish are powdered rice, powdered chana dal and sometimes boiled potatoes. The bread is then deep fried.
How to make Dhuska - Step by step process
Step 1 Soak rice & dal
For this easy Dhuska recipe, soak rice and dal for 4-5 hours.
Step 2 Grind soaked rice & dal
Grind with green chillis, garlic and very little water.
Step 3 Add seasonings to the Dhuska batter
The batter should not be very thick nor too runny. Add little bit turmeric and salt to it.
Step 4 Heat oil in a wok
Heat oil in a wok. It should not be too hot. Take a round spoon which we use for making dosa.
Step 5 Drop the Dhuska batter gently in oil
With the help of spoon gently release the batter into the oil. Fry until golden from both sides.
Step 6 Serve your homemade Dhuska!
