I love this video, always I liked old pictures. I´m Mexican but i lived in California from 1988 to 1994. firstable in East L.A. and later in West Covina and other cities, like Valinda, El Monte, North Hollywood and of course in La Puente for almost the half of that time. I went to the Bassett Adult School to learn some english, I was member of the Baptist Church of La Puente in Vineland road, I remember many beautiful things that happen to me in those years at tose places...but I had to get back home. in Oaxaca, Oaxaca México. I remember the hamburgers and pastrami, the chilli dogs in Cris burger, the burguers in IN N OUT, the 4th of July in the parks with members of the Church, the Christmas evenings, the Thanksgiving days, etc, etc. I´d like to get back to California some day and remember and live everything, but I have no papers... well, maybe some day... USA is my second home..God bless America and God bless México too. Thanks for share this video

Really enjoyed the video! I grew up in Montebello, La Puente wasn't too far away. When I see these videos I feel sad to think how quickly life goes by and all the great grandparents, and grandparents of course are gone now. Mother too, dad is 91 now. Going back home would all be too strange now.

Born in El Monte, but grew up in La Puente. My parents were one of the first home owners in the Happy Homes development, and I grew up across from the Alta Dena dairy on Hambledon Ave. I have fond memories of walking down to Valley Blvd, and then running like hell to get across Valley on my way to swim in the San Jose Creek.

Lassallette was named after the family who owned the land that became Bishop Amat High School. One of the sons of that family, Mike Lassallette was a PE Teachers in the West Covina School District.

I grew up in La Puente from early 70's to 1993 in the Basset area next to what is now called Avocado Heights. I used to walk to Don Julian Elementary School as a kid past an avocado field with cows staring at me.

I grew up in Puente. We lived off of Dalesford and Main. In the mid 70's we dug up the original yard and found large barn door weights and a branding iron beneath the soil.

I grew up in two different areas of La Puente.. From 1984-1988 I lived West of Hacienda Blvd. down Nelson Ave on a small cul de sac street named “Las Vecinas Dr.” In 1989 we moved to Whittier for a couple of years then moved back in 1991 and I lived in Old Town La Puente of Main St. & Bamboo from 1991-2003.. I went to both La Puente and Workman High.. and Graduated from workman in 1996.. So many memories that I’ll never forget.. Miss a lot of my old friends and often wonder what became of most of them… On a side note JB Burgers was my go to for fast food and so was Boca Del Rio and Happy Wok.. And who can forget Skate Junction in West Covina lol. Ahhh La Puente

Hello every one , On 5:34 , their`s a tower we wondered about what was it ? we just called it a castle , it was on 3rd ave. We lived 2 blocks down the street, I delivered the news paper (Tribune ) at that house, street, it`s a dead end maybe 100 feet , a river (between 1969 to 1979). Also as a Fed Ex delivery , (2000 to 2005), I remember delivering to the old Rowland Home, I went inside , even to the 2 floor .I think it`s the same building. well, I back in Texas my second home ,,, but real nice to sling back to the wonder years , thanks for the pictures Mr Gary Cliser

Wow, you only know what you don’t know. My wife and I lived for a number of years in La Puente. We had a house at the intersection of Willow and Homeward. I never knew La Puente had its own airport, there are no signs marking its existence.

Omg Mr. Gomez!!! He was my principal in the early 80’s… I remember him being so damn strict and it was back in the days when your parents can sign off on corporal punishment and kids were getting their ass beat by him.. I remember he use to walk around wearing tap shoes and you can hear coming from the distance.. Damn Nelson elementary.. Went there from 84-88.. I had favorite teacher her name was Mrs. Carol I believe.. I also read somewhere Mr. Gomez was killed by a stray dog 😬

Wow La Puente used to look so nice and now it’s just a bunch of warehouses, mechanic shops and strip joints. The only remnants of history are near old valley Blvd and main st but Main Street is so abandoned now. The only signs that la Puente used to be farm land is in avocado heights. Even Doc Brown said that La Puente used to be all farm land as far as the eye can see. Hill Valley IS La Puente!

Ask your parents or Grandparents: Does anyone remember a community pool or plunge in the area of Valley n Azusa. This was way before Azusa went through past Valley. There was nothing but fields south of Valley; no developments except for this pool in the middle of the fields. This was in the late '50's early 60's.

I remember an old house with a strawberry field at Azusa and Anaheim Puente Rd. It was one of the last holdouts of a bygone era when they finally industrialized the land in the early 2000s.
