the lyrics actually fit the wrestler's situation. She loved the WWE, they threw her away. She tearfully says goodbye and moves on to something else.
@hwoarangthedoorbell3 жыл бұрын
The lyrics also imply the boyfriend is too obsessed with himself and seeing his name on the marquee to care about Ruby. Could be a metaphor for WWE being so into its own branding that it’s too scared to push anybody new that would become a bigger star than the brand.

I was one of/maybe possibly the only black girl in my little suburban town that loved punk music. All my family were telling me I should like typical "black" music like hip-hop and R&B. I won't lie a pretend I knew what the song meant when I was a goofy kid. But ruby soho, defined me in the music and aesthetic I loved. Now I am a college grad and this song still sounds amazing and I love that I'm mature enough to understand the meaning too. Thank you rancid

I don't know if someone will ever read this, but this song means a personal history to me. See almost 2 years ago my parents told me just like that we were moving from NY to LA. In the summer of 2016 I tried to spend every day I could with my buddies, riding our bikes, hanging out, having fun every day, because I knew that it was going to be the last summer I was gonna see them. Back then, I was tired of listening to NoFX, Offspring or Ramones, so then I discovered Rancid. The whole "...And Out Comes the Wolves" album became the soundtrack of that summer. But this song...man, this song became my favorite. That moment when Tim is riding his bike, stops looking down while the rest of the band just keeps walking...man, It hits me hard.

I was there live when this song played and Ruby Soho (Fka Heidi Lovelace and Ruby Riott) made her debut in All Out. I needed to hear this song cause I couldn’t hear it that night over the cheers.

She didn’t think the crowd would care about her, she was trying hard not to cry. Very emotional moment, my favourite debut of the night and that’s saying something.

I love Rancid and i love Ruby (Riott) Soho, glad she uses the original song in the AEW, rooting so much for her in the company.

Big props to Lars Fredricksen of Rancid for making it happen. He personally gave her his blessing to use the name and the song.

Rancid's chorus for "Ruby Soho" is the best hook that Mick Jones and Joe Strummer of The Clash never quite got around to composing.

I was at AEW Double or Nothing in Las Vegas (29 May 2022), and the whole crowd was singing along to this song. It was absolutely magical - the TV recording didn't do it justice. These guys have most certainly still got it.

To everbody who came here because of aew and wrestling: thank you! Now go check out more rancid! Wrestling and punk rock have finally, truly, and deeply met!

The idea that, of all people, it was Ruby (sweet-hearted but awkward and shy in real life and was mistreated and eventually fired by Vince most likely due to her appearance) who did that is pretty heartwarming as both those things mean a lot to her.
@calebtylershepherd213 жыл бұрын
So awesome you let Ruby Soho use a classic song for her entrance in AEW! Bringing new fans to hear this song for perhaps the first time. Thanks for doing that Rancid, and Ruby were so happy you’re happy, and in AEW now.

Matt Freeman is a beast. Right up there with Jeff Ament, Robert DeLeo, Les Claypool and John Entwhistle and Paul McCartney...I remember reading where Matt used to listen to Live at Leeds with part of the stereo down, just to hear The Ox's bass...
