Wow you just helped me a lot ! I’m getting sick of randmcnalley creating devices to breakdown.

LOL . I'm still having issues with it but at least their minor . I am going to try to find a real GPS soon though because these tablets are garbage . All I need is a Professional GPS ... I already have a tablet for my internet and Entertainment needs .

You are a lifesaver! So simple and effective, I was moments away from throwing my GPS out the window on I-80 before I gave this a try. Thank you!

The Rand McNally charger also powers the SiriusXM. Does that work with the cigarette lighter only powering the GPS and not the Slice? My Overdryve 8 battery is stolen from overheating. I've ordered a replacement battery. I'm wondering if I'm going to lose my SiriusxM radio? I have used both ways to power my GPS because, yes, it didn't charge it with the original charger after a few years of use. Any help with this would be helpful.

I tried what u said and my 8 pro went to 12 to 55 to 100% and it’s staying at 100%!!! Yay lol it doesn’t freeze on me anymore or search for signal. When it froze I wouldn’t notice it till 50 miles later then example gps mm24 then I would see a mm sign like mm60 and gps said mm24! Had to shut it off then back in for it to resume route and start navigating again

I have had my Overdryve 8 Pro for 3 years. Junk from day 1. Sirius XM never worked. But the important issues like charging have been there all along. Base charger never worked. Switched to USB charging, and I leave it plugged in all the time while in my truck, but even still, the battery dies while charging! Tried different USB cords & problem is the same. The battery dies even when the unit is turned off and charger remains plugged in for hours!! Turn it on after several hours and it is at much lower battery level, when it should be fully charged! GPS-when programmed for Hazmat loads lets you go into Hazmat Prohibited locations THEN tells you that you are in Hazmat Violation, instead of avoiding Hazmat Prohibited areas and routing you around it!! This is what I paid $600.00 for to keep me OUT of trouble! Displayed Speed limits are OFTEN INCORRECT. You also have to close out each page after use, it won't close after switching to another page, so tons of pages/screens build up & stay open. Camera quality and video quality is very poor for the $600.00 price tag, even with using the highest quality settings. Battery cannot hold a charge from day 1, and most people have this problem. Rand McNally Customer Service is poor, long wait time on phone, poor response little or no action, or replaced with a defective REFURBISHED (= USED!) unit! They just don't care. The product has potential to be very good, but Rand McNally seems to just want to get your money and business the first time, and is not interested in making things right for their customers, retaining customer for repeat business, and gaining new customers from word of mouth & testimonials of current customers. I have only heard of 1 customer who has had no issues with the Overdryve 8 Pro, and that is HERE in another comment. Rand McNally needs to wake up and listen to & take care of their customers or they will not have any customers.

Yeah . When they built actual GPS units they were the best . But even from the first tablet the company has gone completely downhill . I used to tell people I think R&D is being run by the child of the company's CEO trophy wife but I now think the company is run by the child of the trophy wife LOL

I agree with the rand McNally charger being garbage but I've tried plugging a USB charger in the side port but I'm still having the same issues.
@petersisco24994 жыл бұрын
I think that's because it's still having an overheating issue. I use my USB port to charge it as well now. But I've noticed that when it's acting up it's always really hot

Yup! Watched this today cause my 8 Pro was constantly freezing,shutting off,battery would go from 100 down to 12 then would shutoff for 4-6 hrs then try to start it back up it would start then back off till it got charged

I've had my overdryve 8 pro for about 3 and a half years now not a single problem with charging or anything

That's interesting...the manual says that the unit must be plugged into to the mounting device NOT the tablet, mine is a TND, same SHIT JUNK..

Do I have to use the siriusxm silver box?
@daleshaw6768 Жыл бұрын
There is a way around using the siriusxm slice of you don't care about the radio. They sent me a slice to use when mine died. It's got the same contacts required to mount the GPS without the radio. Sorry, this is two years too late, but I just saw your comment.

BS....I have doing that for years, it is the same thing, it crashes just as much! I am moving to Garmin personally. I have the TND 80, Rand Macnally has great technology, looks good an all and have great information, but not reliable at all.

Don't go near Garmin...also junk and I had the Diesel 780

Just leave it plugged in overnight after you turn it off and it will be back up to 100% the next day.

Your theory would work if your not a team driver and the truck running 24 7 until you do a 34 hour break
