How to win an FTL run! Stealth A, no pause, hard mode edition!

Lol 33:00 the double Lanius + Mantis + Rock boarding crew was so borked in terms of the game's mechanics. They are forced by the A.I. to follow each other into the same rooms and yet the Lanius are killing their teammates. Reminds me of the mod where the Flagship had extra Lanius crew to try to beef up the difficulty and they were venting all of the Rebel humans who came in to fix the shield room instead.

One thing I’ve noticed, at least on normal mode, stage 3 boss, with level 4 shields and 4 or 5 dodge I take no damage from super weapon so I almost always cloak missiles to avoid weapons getting hit

Yeah, if I have 4 shields, I'm less worried about the stage 3 overcharge. However, I usually still cloak the overcharge because it occasionally lines up with the missile timing. If you can cloak BOTH missiles and overcharge, that's the best of both worlds!

What weapons are you using? Do you use the hacking system? Hacking is one of the best systems in the game because it allows you to disable ALL shields at max rank. Sounds like you may need to figure out some offensive builds that work for you in the late game!

@@warwicksulista8320 Are you playing advanced edition? There's a button (in the hangar I believe) where you choose "advanced content" on or off. If your advanced edition is off, you're playing without a bunch of the stuff you'd be seeing on my videos since I play with advanced edition. (I think Mind Control may have been added with advanced edition, as well as the "C" layout for each ship)

@@warwicksulista8320 I always found federation A to be easiest late game in my first attempts on easy difficulty. That ship cannon against the boss is pretty good fully upgraded.

Enjoyed the video. That was some crazy RNGesus streak with the BL II, Flak I and Zoltan shield, holy crap! By the way, have you tried fighting the boss with dual fire beam? Most fun I've had in a while. Hacked their shields, then my BL II and dual fire beams disable their missiles, and lasers, then set afire the whole ship. It's so satisfying :)

Hah, that DOES sound like a good time! I did do a run where we killed the boss with only fire (I think), but that's a challenge because you gotta let them repair stuff to burn it down again...but it was definitely a unique way to kill the boss, lol!

Tried this ship a few times on normal, it feels impossible to survive even sector 1. I get rekt with ships that have beam drone + beam weapon. Maybe bad rng?

Yeah, you shouldn't be fighting beam ships EVERY run with the stealth A. Although, you're not automatically dead if you time your cloaking correctly and take out enemy weapons/drones with your first volley.

Sounds like you need to pick your battles more. Early on you should skip some fights in order to save your hull for bad shit happening. Even this guy has to skip the odd fight now and then. Skipping certain events is also a good move (always skip the spiders event unless your medbay is cranked for example) Focus more on targeting the main two ass-pains, shields or weapons. And finally, don't be afraid to reset-scum. FTL is designed to break your femur and laugh, so resetting for good starts is entirely valid.

Always take free crew, you can swap them out later

There are few times I don't take free crew: if I REALLY need scrap reward to get a system/augment/weapon upgrade that is required for the ships I'm fighting, it's a useless human (sorry humans!), or I'm full crew. Of course, there are exceptions, but this is my normal philosophy. I'll even take a human if I REALLY need crew...I just won't like it =P
