Randall Emmett had built a career for himself in Hollywood over the past decade as a producer of schlocky action films featuring cameos of iconic actors like Bruce Willis and Al Pacino. But in recent years, he was at the cusp of finally gaining mainstream respect. He had a recurring role on the reality TV hit “Vanderpump Rules” and produced Martin Scorsese’s last two films. But a Los Angeles Times investigation found that multiple former assistants and people who worked for Emmett alleged improper behavior.
Today on "The Times" podcast, we get into the rise and fall of Emmett, and what it says about the Hollywood of today.

This is really well constructed and explosively relevant. I'm amazed that mine is the first comment. Randall seems so disingenuous - and it's amazing that he was able to fool, scam and mistreat so many people. It will be interesting to see what comes of all this. It seems like there's a combination of both the universe- AND Lala Kent serving karma... Kinda can't blame Lala- it would be a terrifying reality to drop your child off to his home- into his 'care' a couple of days and nights per week. It gives me the goose bumps just thinking about it actually...

The movie business is a hard game . People getting any money back at all is a miracle so the fact he could turn it around it an amazing career . He may have misstepped with the women and trying to balance an impossible business plan . But people get irate when it comes to money . This is definitely nothing like a good, well constructed interview. What a lol introduction of two columnists. Not staged at all to have two convenient POVs. “I’m not as a big fan of reality tv” “I’m a fan of reality”. Why do people immediately believe this is all true and jump on the hate train. Why would two professional reporters go public and talk about an individual, unless of course they’re not actually legit, or want cash/attention OR maybe cause it’s off the back of a popular reality TV show. Would they be talking about him otherwise? The cancel culture blows my mind.
