I first sang this gorgeous piece 46 years ago as a music student in high school. I went on to sing at the University of Michigan. Then, in 1990, it was sung for my ordination to professional ministry in the Presbyterian church. No piece of music causes me to pause like this one.

So that was back in 1976 for you. I was singing it in my high school choir that same year, Millikan H.S. in Long Beach, CA. I never went on to the ministry, but this one still hits me in the feels when I hear it.

I just heard a recording of my high school chorus (in which I was a tenor) singing this in 1960. We were pretty good, but not as nuanced and controlled as is this lovely performance.
