Randle must be consistent and Play well in the playoffs too. Play defense and make the extra Pass. No slow "iso" offense. Push the ball and hit the open man!!!

Randle's defense and passing is underrated. He is getting 5 assists and constantly dishing out for a wide open 3. He is taking double teams. Do people realize that Randle is the 3rd highest ranked knicks player in DEF WS? Underrated defensively. Lets not forget that he is 3rd highest scoring PF in the nba.

@@shengwu6044 I scratch my head with the disrespect that Randle gets when he is putting 25-10-5 and shooting 48%. It is a misconception that he is some ball hog and just goes iso to take some tough shot. The dude is a tank and bully ball defenders for close high percentage shots. He goes to the FT line a lot too. Imagine having the 3rd highest scoring PF in the nba and get disrespected by his own knick fans.

It's funny how the Anunoby - Barrett - Quickley trade has brought clarity to the Knicks. There are now only two creators on the floor - and they are both elite. Brunson is the primary and Randle is the secondary. Randle reminds me of LeBron light. He can bully his way in to score and he's very good at that and he can create for others by kicking out. And now he has three three and D guys to pass to - Anunoby, Hartenstein and Grimes (not to mention Brunson). The irony of all of this is that it's beginning to look like the Knicks may not need to get a third creative option. In fact, it might hurt them. Brunson and Randle are all you need. It may get too crowded on offense with a Mitchell or a Murray in there. And the defense will definitely suffer if you replace Grimes with Mitchell or Murray. Right now the D looks real good with Grimes covering at the point, Anunoby shutting down the oppositions best scorer and Hartenstein protecting the rim. Robinson's injury was a stroke of luck as it lets us see how good Hartenstein is (much better player than Robinson) and how well he fits both offensively and defensively with the rest of this lineup. Hartenstein, Grimes and Anunoby give you a real nice defensive backbone. And they are all good spot up shooters as targets for the creators Brunson and Randle. It works. May be no need to change it. And, with this group, it really gives Randle a chance to show out - it's a perfect situation for his skill set.

You made a lot of valid points just wanted to point out that hartenstein isn’t a 3 & D player I think you’re referring to Divencenzo . & also hartenstein is the 3rd play maker on the team
@michaelsherron5750
@michaelsherron5750 9 ай бұрын
The only thing I disagree with is the getting another player. The type of player we need is someone like a Murray or Murray himself who can carry the load for dishing assits alongside Brunson but knows how to get his own shot when needed [ he's averaging 20+ points per game ] PLUS he is a defensive phenom. Atlanta is top 10 steals with Murray. Either that or Grimes steps up and becomes that player THIS season. Oh, and we also could use a floor general on the 2nd unit...unless, Deuce steps up and gives us what we need. He's looking like he's trending that way. 😄

@@siah3148 Hartenstein's defense has been awesome and he protects the rim. The D is there. He's also a force off the boards. And he came to the Knicks as a three point shooter - sort of a change of pace guy from Robinson who can barely dunk without screwing it up. Thibodeau doesn't like his centers roaming away from the basket so Hartenstein doesn't have the opportunity to go outside, but he is absolutely capable. Now that we're seeing Hartenstein out there full time, we've got a better version of Porzingis.

@@michaelsherron5750 I think Grimes is a better fit for the Knicks than either Mitchell or Murray because both of them are too one dimensional. Neither plays D and Grimes pressures the opposition at the point of attack. The Knicks defense is for real with Grimes out front making things difficult for the opposing point guard, Anunoby covering the opposing top scorer like a blanket and Hartenstein keeping a lid on the basket.

For now that title belong to Dave Debusschere. In a very similar way when he came to the Knicks (mid year 68/69) they immediately improved. It gave Willis Reed more freedom at center. They won 54 games that year 60 the next (plus title 1) and appeared in the 71/72 finals and won title 2 in 72/73. Dave D played before 3 point line and he was really 3 and D. Outstanding defender. Julius has better stats (especially offensive) but that’s 3 points and less physical play. I love when Randle plays within himself and keeps players moving and pass out of the double. In some ways Anuoby is like when DeBusschere arrived. We can only hope. Go Knicks!

@@AYjoy93 JB is so huge because he makes others better. Even if Randle doesn't put up 25-10-5 in the playoffs and say he puts up 20 points, he contributes in other ways with assists, rebounds and defense. The Knicks have depth and play team ball. Even though Brunson and Randle are their big names, they have other unsung underrated key players who fit their roles. Even if Brunson or Randle have a bad playoff game, the knicks can still beat other teams by wide margin especially due to their swarming defense.
