It really sucks that I've discovered chiptune in late 2019 rather than in its peak. This is one of my favorite genres, and it brings a tear to my eye listening to music that conveys such a whimsical familiarity while also feeling my brain with bright and poppy dopamine. I hope when I die I'll be listening to this

It's peak? It hasn't peaked. Artists continue to push the envelope, showcased here! The early days of chiptune in games were replete with shortcuts made out of nessecity (Some of which have become hallmarks of the sound, like blippy arps!)

GubbyBuggy you see, the smaller the pixels; the larger the resolution (pixels packed in one place) If you were to say an arbitrary number of bits (the one you said), it'd be technically really small pixels, but also a lot of them. So you're half right and half wrong.
