I don't know if Comet is good but I've only drawn him once in the first I think 15 games after I built a Garth deck of unique cards and keyword abilities. I loved comet so that's why he was the first card to go in the deck.

Thanks again for another great episode!! I have a question about the point system. We have adopted it for a mini league house game because why not. The minus point for killing the person solely in last place...is that with combat damage only or at all? If it is not just commander damage, how would you guys treat this situation. I have Liesa, Shroud of Dusk (my commander) on the table and I leave the player in sole possession of last with 2 life on his turn...if he casts a spell and takes two damage from my commander...is it me killing him and therefore lose the point? OR I have wound reflection in play, the player in sole possession of last has 2 life left and a different player all together deals one damage to that player. Which in his end step he will take one more damage due to wound reflection...would I lose the point for killing that player? Appreciate the time to answer and as always, love the content!

It is funny that they brought up the Corey hate. I don't like his bubbly and cocky attitude, but I do love seeing everyone stomp on him. There is such a different dynamic from the Justin days when everyone was just friendly rivals. I do love the new format decisions like moving each players seats to their point positions. The cut of the point layout is nice as well since they did it for hundreds of episodes already. It seems like a good cut. I do miss the deck techs, but I can respect the need to get to the play faster.

My issue with Corey is what he represents for MTG. This is a guy who has been to and played in frickin’ Pro tours. Yet he has the reading and comprehension level of Magic cards that is unbelievably pathetic. We taught a friend of ours Magic 9 months ago. She watched an episode of this show and seriously thought Corey a new player like her. Since he struggled to understand or even READ the cards, and everyone else at the table basically had to play his deck for him. Imagine her surprise when I had to explain to her the length of time he has been playing and the levels he has reached. It made no sense to her. Between Corey’s issues and Jeremy pretty much accepting last every season, a mix up is desperately needed on the show. This isn’t years past, there is A LOT of competition out there in Commander show land, and they are no longer at the top. Or anywhere near it.

@@CyberNewType I know a lot of Magic players. I'd categorize Corey as a 2nd hand expert. He is willing to do what it takes to get good in a format, but he needs to see the cards in action a few times before he sees how it works together. This mimicry is useful for getting good at standard and sealed because the possibilities are much smaller than legacy formats like commander. Corey is simply out of his element in these episodes. They are often playing either brand new cards amd/or cards that are basically only played in Commander. The others take to understanding the game in its many themes and understand the intent behind cards. They don't necessarily need to see a card in action to know how it will or will not fit in a deck or a game. I know Commander VS has competition in the Commander play videos, but they still win my views because they can put out new vids every week and still do weird restrictions that other shows just don't do. The random deck concept like this episode is not done very often. Going in blind to a game very much favors the original 3 because that concept itself is its own format.

these videos just don't feel the same anymore. watching the same 3 people fight over the winning chair while the other is always stuck in last is kinda dull - not to excuse decision making, it's just very clear 3 players are far more ruthless in deciding things and the results speak for themselves. then to see a generically powerful deck like yawgmoth chucked in with transformers, dice rolls and clues, with the yawgmoth deck going to one of the more cutthroat players just feels like poor balancing with a predictable outcome. feels like a deck like that should go to the person in last to try and assist them, particularly when they're in that seat week in, week out

I sadly stopped watching bc Jeremy is either just bad or doesn’t try. It’s a serious flaw they just don’t care about. He’s been in last place for like 3-4 seasons. It’s great otherwise.
