big difference between math till 12th standard and engineering math is the books used till 12th are indian author books which emphasize more on solved examples and not teaching the underlying concept. one can watch channels like 3blue1brown to understand that basic concepts of math which also have a lot of practical applications.

Log book is a genius thing. Sure, you can calculate faster with calculator. And the point isn't that you use log books everywhere. But, if you use log tables for calculation - your brain gets all worked up. And that's the goal. Also, if you sit down and think about log books. How they are made and the use of error approximation - it is mind-blowing. And that's the stretcher goal. I loved log books.

I have a weird relationship with maths. I was actually pretty good and my dad made me do abacus as well up until the 10th standard. I did well in my boards but I heard when I moved to Delhi I don't need to take maths so I avoided it. Big mistake. I'm convinced I did badly in my 11th because I didn't take maths.
