July 7th is actually a misnomer, the title actually refers to the 7th day of the 7th month on the lunar calendar, which is the date for Chilseok, sort of Korean Valentine’s Day (originally Chinese). The song is about the fable of the cowherd and weaver girl who are separated to the ends of the galaxy by the gods and are only able to meet once a year on that date.

Dongie actually has two Chinese solos (no music videos) unrelated to Dreamcatcher. The first is called "曙光" or "The First Light of Dawn," which she released in October of 2020. The second was "那天" or "That Day," which she released in November of 2022. They aren't officially streaming on YT, so some Somnia uploaded them so you should be able to still find them on here pretty easily.

And There Was No One Left is on one of Dreamcatcher's best albums with Piri and Diamond. Dami's higher voice at the beginning of her career is a combination of management making her raise her tone in Minx days to meet conventional expectations for girl groups (one of her troubles from those days) and people's voices naturally get lower as they age; everyone's voice is lower in mid-20s than as a teenager and it's extra noticeable for singers. July 7 is about a Chinese folk tale of lovers separated to be stars in the sky who could only be together on the 7th day of the 7th month each year. Handong's voice is much more resonant than other members so now and then the producers like to drop out the instrumentals and let her voice do the work for a moment. The most famous time being Holding This Pain, and since Handong moments are a fan favorite it had to be in Reason too.

I love Handong's voice! I think it was Rising that made me really appreciate it, which led me backwards into their discography. I then couldn't believe I missed it.

@@_KpopAjumma_ They're using her really good range and tone in every song on the OOTD album much better than in the past. With this in mind there could be new layers to the Odd Eye video too. Yoohyeon and this Handong are my favorite voices from the group (even though Siyeon is my idol bias and I would marry JiU no questions asked).

I completely forgot that Remember Me was from Coco. That's a beautiful movie. Handong & Jiu both have really light and airy voices, I'd love to see them do more covers together. And There was no one left. You can't convince me this isn't a hair commercial. Seriously, their hair in this special clip looks absolutely fantastic. I love how sinister this clip feels in places when all they do is sit there, sing, and stare at the camera. Dongie always sounds so beautiful when she sings in her native language. These 4 songs are all Dreamcatcher b-sides and Dongie did this cover as a Christmas present to InSomnia. You know all about BEcause, lol. I think this was done as a promotional thing in order to get them more exposure in Korea since that's where they lack penetration in the domestic market. Looks like you already got some good information on what July 7th is about. This is the last song on their Alone in the City EP and is often referred to as Handong's song due to how many lines she has in it. I agree about the volume issues on vocal practice 2. It is nice hearing them in a completely raw audio setting. They really do sound fantastic just like this. I sometimes think it would be cool if they'd do an acapella or very light instrumental b-side for an album. The version of Deja Vu they just did at their concert kind of like this for the first verse and chorus and it sounded absolutely amazing. Vocal practice 1 does a really good job of showing that they're great singers, can harmonize together easily, and are a bunch of goofballs. OMG is such a great song and cover. It's still my favorite G-Idle song and their execution of the song is perfect.

I hate it when my replies mysteriously disappear. Remember Me, sounds as if was for when Handong was gone. I know it wasn't, it just sounds like it. I agree with you about And There was No One Left. I haven't seen many commercials nowadays, but the Redkin or Pantene commercials come to mind from decades ago. I am sure they use salon style products. They really know how to act... maybe that's why many idols turn to acting after they're done singing. OMG makes me blush every time! I am going to do a reaction on their recent concert... so I can finally enjoy it. I've waited long enough! I just need to endure 2.5 hours on a chair!

Polaris isn't really a sad song actually, but the fact that it was performed without Handong and all members were tearing up escalating the sadness of the song through the roof. Also Handong's Chinese ver of Polaris sounds the most perfect compared to others. As usual translated songs give a bit weird but Polaris sounds smooth. Also I guess you translated the hangeul for the song.. Sunflower Heart officially "A Heart of Sunflower". Then Promise Us officially have "July 7th" as official title in English

@@_KpopAjumma_ technically Handong was there, but also wasn't there. She recorded her parts for the song and the album released before she left. I like ballad but Handong's voice literally perfect for ballad, top 3 of the group. The only ballad I like when she was missing is Dear. It's because JiU wrote the lyrics and as always self written songs give special feel especially ballad. Idk if you've checked Dear or not, definitely a great ballad.

@@_KpopAjumma_ it's a standalone and based on the mobile game from King's Raid. But some parts trigger fan fantasy to link it to other songs. Dreamcatcher never release a storyline that being separated so far, unless by JP release or collab song for game

Dami's voice has always been pretty mid range when speaking and she was just a kid in minx. She used to rap in a higher pitch for minx and Sua took the deeper parts, Siyeon was also made to sing in a high pitch and you can see the difference between that and chase me. Dami raps better in her mid range and songs she writes herself tend to be in that range but she can go lower or higher. Overall the biggest difference in voice between then and now has been with Siyeon and Dami, Dami found her comfort zone and Siyeon's voice matured a lot (good night live in 2017 vs good night live in 2021). Siyeon, Gahyeon and Handong have the lowest speaking voice with Handong's being fuller and lilting, Gahyeon's being louder and Siyeon's being softer and huskier.

I did notice that SuA's rap in Love Shake seemed lower than Dami's. It's always cool to hear those with lower speaking voice sing in a way that makes one fly!
