I was thinking of purchasing an Xtool but looking on eBay there are a lot of returned units being sold at a large discount with full warranty and updates. I don't see the same thing for other manufacturer. It makes me wonder why so many are available.

You can do both, plug into the wall o charge or it will charge off the vehicles battery during use.

Perhaps the manufacturer of DX8 abandoned support for it and released this version to cover the shortcomings. Many of the features in the previous version make you frustrated because you are unable to complete it despite their presence in it.

I don’t think the fca access for 2019+ you may want to look at higher end Autel or Topdon units

I bout a D8s and can’t get customer support or even return a email . Tried to register my scan tool but out of luck. For some reason the account I set up with my password does even work. $600 down the drain

It could be, the unit charges when it’s being used so the battery life capacity is not a big concern in my opinion.

Can this tools program Mercedes Benz and BMW brain box

I haven’t tried but I doubt it as you taking about the brain box and last time I had a Benz s550 and the power window switch went out and I had to got to my buddy shop that paid $35k for the equipment and support and he got the phone with Germany 🇩🇪 just to activate it so the window would go up and down, lol, so before you buy email support and send them your vin to avoid a headache. Germany cars are fun to drive and not hard to work on but when it comes to computer and module they are a nightmare to replace. At least for the newer ones.
