I gutted my front cats and run Doug Thorley catless B pipes on my 2005 Nissan Xterra. I have tried three different types of spacers and the P0420 P0430 codes come back within 10 miles of driving. Scratching my head as to what to try next. Thinking of the resistor fix but there are mixed results with that one too..🤬 The truck runs great otherwise and gets over 20 MPG, just hate the CEL..

Resistors work, I had them on my 99 to 2004 mustangs. They were called mil eliminators and I use to buy them from Americanmuscle but they are hard find. I never tried making my own as I would buy completed harnesses for less than $40. Good luck in your search for a prefabricated mil cheat device so must likely you will need to create you own.

Did you stuff some steel wool in your non foulers? Supposedly if the spacers themselves don’t work then you’re supposed to stuff steel wool in the unmodified fouler that goes into your exhaust, then your fouler with the sensor bolted in it.

@AImighty The extenders I used have the white "mini cat" inserts in them and were supposed to mimic the cat function, but obviously don't unfortunately. I would think that steel wool wouldn't last long being exposed to that kind of heat?

Great info! My F53 chassis motorhome had a P0420 code. It has an after market catalytic converter on a brand new vehicle for some reason. Ford service added a spacer for the O2 sensor on the cat. Should spacers also be added upstream on the exhaust? Thanks

How does one really know if the cat converter is plugged up causes pressure vs just a 420 code meaning its not working 100 percent on the fumes for epa? Kids has a chevy Volt electric w gas generator with a 420 code, car runs fine but it tosses the light on which prevents other codes from alerting the driver. So to keep the light off so other codes can light it up if needed why not use a non fouler?

One way is that you will see a fine haze or fog of atomized fuel blowing BACKWARDS out the intake due to the high exhaust and cylinder pressures at intake valve opening. The computer will also probably start subtracting fuel, which you can look for in the short and long term fuel trims.

Hello Friend Will this work for a bad catalytic converter? I reset the "check engine" light & comes back within 20 miles. Tried 2 catacleans and the straight non foulers with no luck. Just looking to have all moniters ready when it is time to smog

Converters still bad, a melted honey comb will still have to be knocked out so it can breathe before even trying non foulers

@@chambliziOfficialChannel I just needed this procedure to pass my amog check...i understand that a bad converter can affect the engine. But with this procedure, i get to pass the test, drive to work at a short distance & meanwhile saving up money to replace my converter. ✌🕶🔧

@@RANDOMFIX all I have done to it is remove 2 mufflers. It still currently has 1 on. It was throwing both catalytic insufficiency codes (1 on each side). I have replaced both with the doorman adapter trick and I no longer have insufficiency on either side. I only have the p0161 on the drivers side. I have inspected o2 sensor and it looks fine. Additionally I have tried only using 1 adapter on that side and it is still throwing the code. Any ideas would be appreciated.
