Hey Frank! Awesome video. I've been building boards for a couple years now and have a couple tips if you're interested: 1. You can use 205g0 on all parts of your stab. Just brush it on the wire like you did with the stab housing. Also, make sure you lube the stab insert too (the part that you clipped). 2. Hard to tell, but it looks like your switches are not clipped into the plate so it's just resting on the pcb. I've also bought that plate from spacecat and I had the same issue. The switch cutouts are too loose. 3. Leaving the middle screw out won't soften your typing experience unless you also remove the standoff. The pcb is just resting on it now and likely making noise when it smacks against the standoff. 4. I know you said that switch you lubed was messy, but just in case, that was enough lube for about 3-4 switches. You want just enough that there is a slight gloss texture to the plastic. There should be no white globs or areas of excess buildup or the switch will feel gumed up and sluggish. Otherwise, this is a heck of a first build. My first "build" was literally just a switch swap, haha.
@ferni05 жыл бұрын

The aesthetics of this keyboard are as sophisticated as it is out-of-this-world. This keyboard (custom, hand- built) is more than worth the $680 it cost to build (add another $1,000 for the labor involved). Frank P is truly an artist and the result of his work are truly pieces of artwork.

@Michael Zhu For a dude who's into this stuff, allegedly, I can't believe he'd publish a video containing such a blatantly noobish mistake. This is a $600 board for christ sake! ONE search on YT for "lube mechanical keyboard switches" is all thats needed to learn that you don't put that much Krytox GPL204 GRADE FLIPPING ZERO inside your boutique switches. I mean he fuckin' basted those bitches like I baste chicken thighs on the backyard smoker. I cringed so hard. All this dude needed to odo was watch LITERALLY the first video that comes up in a search for lubing keyswitches. @TaehaTypes didn't make *his* lubing video so that we could be subjected to this abomination. I’m really not trying to be negative, but this just seems like a complete money grab. I’m not paying more than 200$ for a keyboard. That’s just crazy. But this keyboard isint as crazy as the guy claiming he built tfue keyboard for 3500$.
@celestialsss5 жыл бұрын
@@MJBjj870 It's literally a custom keyboard, you need to consider the quality of the switches, what the plate and all the keycaps are made of etc. Tae's tfue build is genuinely worth that much, but the board is likely going to last for years upon years too, and plus I don't see why not if you have the money
@dapperstache77474 жыл бұрын
@@MJBjj870 It isn't though. It's just a cost of group buys. Mechanical keyboards, keycaps and other accessories come in all different shapes, sizes, colours, materials etc. Most of these are designed by individual community members who are trying to bring something new to the rest of the mechanical keyboard community. Unfortunately many of these products have minimum order quantities (MOQs) as it is not cost efficient, or too expensive, for a manufacturer to produce only one unit of a particular product which means that the designer must pitch their idea to the community and organize a group buy for it in order for it to get produced. Group buys are where a group of people collectively order a product with the hope that it will reach MOQ. In most cases, this is the only way that custom products are manufactured. Group buys are usually held between two dates, known as the start and end date. If a particular group buy does not reach the required MOQ on or before the end date, then all of the orders will be cancelled and each customer will be refunded. If the group buy meets or exceeds the MOQ, then the order will be submitted to the manufacturer. Customers will receive their order once the products have been manufactured. The MOQs and group buy lead times vary between each group buy, but this information is usually listed on the group buy page. Not all group buys are for custom, unique products. Sometimes group buys can be held for existing products, where a large and existing keyboard manufacturer will cut the price of their product for the community if a certain MOQ is met. That said, you can get an objectively good mechanical keyboard like a Ducky One 2 Mini or even a more well known Cooler Master for about $150 - $200. The offside is that those are mass produced, quality may not always be as good, and it won't be personalized aside from whatever RGB profiles you can assign to it.
