I've seen some pretty poorly optimized games and when asked about it, a few of the dev responses would be to use FSR/DLSS for better performance. Other than that, AFMF2 is great for emulators especially. For those that don't have an AMD cpu/gpu you can also try Lossless Scaling (available on steam and also supports AMD gpu's ) and while it isn't free it's cheap and works great on my RTX 2060. Works for video media too. Works with ALL games and not just ones coded for DLSS or FSR. More artifacts than the nvidia/AMD variants since it doesn't use motion vectors but if you watch movies on your TV with a similar motion interpolation feature then you won't notice. Barely any input lag either. Digital foundry did a piece on it a couple of months ago.

Not that this has anything to do specifically with Fluid Motion, but I recently tried an FSR3 mod to replace DLSS Frame Generation in The Witcher 3 and it is unreal how good it feels. I'm used to, and can easily discern the difference between small and large variables in FPS (even 90-110 is noticeable to me). FSR3 mod in The Witcher 3 felt so good, so native, I genuinely had a hard time realizing there was any fake frames being generated. Even on an artifact side, the only time I'd notice anything would be on Roach sprinting through the countryside where the bottom of the screen gave a slight tell of being fake frames. As long as I kept my native frame-rate around 45-50, the effect of the generation was incredibly impressive. Technology is actually kind of insane, especially if it works incredibly optimally.

Running this with 7800xt on a 1440p, I use Radeon chill to limit games to 90 real fps and then use AFMF2 to push it to 180 displayed fps (or sometimes 60 to 120). Everything is buttery smooth and it makes the gpu run several degrees cooler because it's no longer at 100% utilization. I can also turn graphics settings higher without sacrificing fps or temps. I haven't really noticed any artifacting tbh, unlike with FSR upscaling in some titles. The only issue is that it's a bit janky, where it sometimes does not turn on when you start a game and then you have to fiddle with restarting the game or restarting AMD Adrenalin and hoping something makes it actually run. Definitely worth trying if you're running an AMD gpu.

@@x0vg5hs1 True , some unreal engine games are still in early stages and optimizing in games this days are either lazy or just rely on tech like fake fps generation , AI stuff etc. I think depends on the game , resolution , etc , there is alot factors

I remember the days when he was happy to achieve 30fps. How times have changed.

Hmm, I don't know, the GTA V footage seemed extremely artifacted for me. Maybe it's the game, maybe I just have much too keen of an eye, but it felt like every "moving" element in the world was shimmering or flickering in some way. Pedestrians blobbing out, large window reflections blinking hard, some finer-detailed things like balconies or lamp posts just sort of, snapping unnaturally... I don't think I'm on board with this, much like the rest of modern "temporal" graphics effects. This would annoy me.

What the software do you use to show real fps on the top left screen?

Feel like buying a 5500 was the worst mistake I made, absolutely none of the new bells and whistles are supported, it's like amd forgot about the 5th gen😢

damn yall so lucky, would be nice if they actually fixed my issue which means AFMF not working, its doubling FPS but its not smoother at all compared it to being turned off, I have reported that using AMD Bug Report Tool but they dont seem to care, XFX 210 RX 6600 XT here

If a game has a problem running at above 60 will this make it run better without causing issues?

Hi mate, Upon checking the AMD overlay on GTA 5. why it has higher FPS compared to MSI afterburner Overlay FPS
@BeerDone3 ай бұрын
MSI's overlay tracks only the real frames rendered. AMD's one shows the sum total of render + Fluid Motion frames. He uses this for visible comparison of "real" framerate to "effective" framerate.

I was using lossless scaling on 30 fps capped games and it works but the latency is bad.....and this in theory lowers the latency so it will be interesting to use it

I don't think this works on 680m or 660m equipped APU's, but is it enabled on 760 or 780m's?

AFMF 2 isn't showing up for me. I tried updating my adrenalin driver but it said it's already up to date. I have a rx 7600.

They won't be releasing it fully until Q4, for now its on technical previews only, which you need to install from the website.

After trying out all of the frame gen technologies except AFMF 2 because I don't want to install a preview driver, I seriously do not understand the hype. AFMF 1at best made the smoothness look worse than the original framerate. Lossless Scaling has too many artifacts and also had some messed up pacing. FSR 3 FG in Call of Duty since that is the only game I have with FSR 3 FG didn't do... anything, the framerate said it was higher, it definitely wasn't visually or if it was the frame pacing there itself out of the window. DLSS FG is the only one that's done anything that I'd say is serviceable, but still doesn't feel good. I really don't understand why people like FG and I don't understand why these technologies were made in the first place.

Consider using a control pad whilst recording your gameplay videos. Your mouse sensitivity is high and it jolting around is not ideal for viewing.
