The third movie said it was 200 years since the swords were sealed. On the day Inuyasha's father died and he was born. And not ONLY is that the best movie of the 4, but there was absolutely NOTHING in it that would prevent it from interacting with the series/manga's canon. So...yeah I always consider it canon.
